  • What is NFC (Near Field Communication)

I'm looking at the Corvette Pack Evolution pdf and they show a feature under the Infotainment page called NFC. It is described as "makes paring a phone to Corvette simpler than ever, with just a wave of the phone and a quick confirmation."

However a footnote says NFC does not presently work with Iphone.

How can Iphone users pair their phones to the Infotainment system? Will there be a later update?

Oh, it is going to be a long half year wait and we will have to dissect little tid bits of data like this to keep us busy.

NFC is a protocol for android devices so that you can pair with other devices just by placing them together for a few seconds. Apple doesn’t support this protocol. You will manually go through the process of connecting your iPhone via Bluetooth.

Incorrect. iPhone does support NFC. Apple calls it AirDrop, but it's the same protocol. Apple also locks it down much for than Android for less functionality. Apple will also allow for more functionality in iOS 13

Apple Pay uses their own iteration of NFC, too.

You'll be able to pair an iPhone the same way you do in a C7, or any other car with Bluetooth. NFC just simplifies the process.
