  • 2021 Price increases

Have been planning on a 21 model for various reasons, including getting more out of my C7. Hearing the chatter about possible price increases, as occurred with the C7 after the first year makes me start thinking about jumping in with you 2020 guys. I would think there will be considerable buying pressure on the C8 stingray, that will likely keep us at MSRP longer than the C7, because the car is so much more than previous generations.
I don't really want to wait to try to get less than sticker.
What do you guys think about the amount of the likely price change with what you see in the tea leaves or your crystal *****?

Well to quote a well known songester 🎼“The answer my friend is blowing in the wind ,the answer is blowing in the wind”🎼

The question that would be nice to know is “When does anyone think the C8 will sell for less then MSRP?
I’m thinking the answers are the same. 🎼
As far as price increases we’ll my guess is: YES and as soon as GM thinks the market will bare it and @ the highest amount $$ the market will bare.
If you believe a recession is around the corner that will effect the equation. My thought is why wait? Will prices go up ....YES
Will C8’s go for less then MSRP ? YES someday Then the question is New or used?
Life is just too short and uncertain
            J MHOFWIW YMMV

Well the good thing in my favor is the 2017 I have was deeply discounted. I don't blame a company for getting the most out of a hot seller. That is what I would do.

They could go up X amount on options, and Xx amount on each trim level, etc.

For what it’s worth, I jumped in on the waiting list the day after the reveal BECAUSE of the low MSRP (and the car is sexy as hell). I just upgraded my C7 grand sport to a C7 Z06 2 months ago (I wasn’t planning on getting a C8 for a few years). Anyway, good luck deciding!

The C7 market is down right now. The Auction numbers are higher on 2018s than 2019s. Reason being you got dealers like the one in Miami and one in Virginia advertising base C7s for $42,500. Of course they are base cars and the 7,500 in rebates most do not qualify for or are just misleading. I think that if the market is strong on the C8s the absolute best time will be when folks actually price out the c8s and realize with options they get up there . So the C7 market will be redefined in the next few months.

Economic turndowns do kill the sales of things we don't need but want. An $80,000 sports car fits that category. I do have a realistic opinion of Corvette and the C8s future but it may be too negative for some to hear BUT, falls in line with what has been happening to Sports car sales. I am not the only one with this vision. Bob Lutz shares the same vision. Maybe it is why he talked about FE Corvette SUvs in the future. Another thing on the plus side for GM and not for the waiting buyers is with RHD C8s coming out for 2021 and the fall over into 2021 of US sales of those that are waiting the sales will remain high. It is a big possibility the C8s will go up in price but as of now it is rumor and I am sure GM is waiting to see how the European market and the Asian Market accept this car before a final decision on price increases. If I were to bet I would put my money on the prices going up and maybe the frenzy will go beyond 2021 if Nowling Green can only produce 40,000 units a year. You also have to keep in mond the small dealer mentality. When they see that their 12 car allotment flys off the shelf they will all order a bunch of unsold c8s for 2021 and mark them up. Some of these dealers end up with 2 year old brand new cars eventually and fall in love with them or so it seems when you look at their pricing and unwillingness to fairly discount something they can not sell in their market.I found three dealers online the other day that still had NEW 2018s they could not sell two years ago with little incentive to buyers.
BOTTOM LINE, John hit the nail on the head for most of us. Life for some is getting shorter , myself included and I am not going to beat myself up to save a buck. My crystal ball is as cloudy as the next person that thinks he has the answers.

You will see a price adjustment in about 6 mo.When the 2021 do come out no doubt you will see another. If you have a 2020 on order and it gets a order than it will be price protected for the 2020 build. If it is not built and the 2021 comes out you are out of luck
