  • Magnetic Ride...worth the $1895

i am in the middle of configuring my C8, 3LT. I am already at $84715.😯. So my question is, do I opt for the magnetic ride as well and up the price to $86610??? I owned a C7 1LT Z51 that did not have magnetic ride and the car drove extremely well. Just looking for some input. Click image for larger version

I was hoping it would have had MagLev , but I'm going to settle for the MagRide since I'll probably not be around when MagLev becomes introduced on consumer vehicles. All I can say is you must opt for what you feel is the right thing to do. Technology is constantly changing and my feeling is new technology for the new ME Stingray. I have had MagRide on a couple of Cadillacs which both 15 ATS, one with and one without, but the one with magride was the V series which I'm sure has a stiffer suspension to begin with so who knows? I can say this- I will be ordering the Z51 / FE4 Magnetic Selective Ride Control. Good luck with your decision and I like your visualized ride.

Having had the upgraded Mag Ride on my C7 convertible , and having enjoyed it immensely on our weather challenged roads in Vermont, I view the question as follows:

Is it worth $1895 in savings to skip the FE4? To me, the answer is no. I will skip the front lift instead, and just be as careful as I am now.

The difference in our '15 Z51 (without MSRC) and our '17 GS (which comes with MSRC) is significant in handling in Sport mode. Stiffer steering and thus better cornering. Love the MSRC and it's well worth the price. (IMHO)

            I'm thinking a 3LT + MSRC + Z51 +FRT LFT + C/F Interior + engine appearance. Total $82,830

Question: Is the stiffer steering a result of the MSRC?

No and I believe the steering effort is programable

Mag ride or not, that is the question that at a similar time with the C7, also created so many threads and posts. To me, definitely worth it. To friends whose roads are better, not worth it. To ask a corollary question, why would Ferrari and Aston Martin have bought it from GM, and installed it into every one of their street cars if it was not that special?

Ever since I've been contemplating this, I've been feeling EVERY bump I hit in NYC and starting to think even if it helps a little it may be worth it

We’ve had it on our last four Corvettes. Never drove one without but if tour setting gives a little softer ride for the long trips with the option for firmer when you want it’s worth it to me.

I would love to have it in my 3LT but I don’t want the Z51 and you can’t get MRC with out Z51 so I’ll live without it. IF I was getting the Z51 package the MRC would be a no brainer it’s a bargain at $1895 imo.

BREAKING NEWS; I’m getting the Z51and MRC and E60 I’m all in baby life is too short “Leave the money keep the Corvette”💸

The tour setting is definitely softer than the Z51 without MSRC. But I'm bot convinced it is softer than the base suspension.
