  • C8 Option Ordering ?'s

I am new to the corvette world and I have some questions re my C8 order I placed yesterday with my dealer salesman. Sorry do not know all the codes yet so will write it "un-encrypted" ;<)
Torch Red; Black/Carbon Flash Wheels (he did not say I needed black lug nuts, do I need to add that?); 2LT; Z51 & Magnetic ride; Front Lift; Red calipers; GT2 seats (Do these have ability to adjust seat "wings" for "wide" drivers? Does the GT1 seat have that capability? The yellow C7 Convertible I rented in FL a few months ago did and I think it was a 3LT as it had HUD and Nav? I wish that C7 yellow was still available, I would have ordered that as the Accelerate Yellow is not for me...); Two tone interior Tan/Natural leather and Black "Micro Suede" interior. Salesman said I had to get GT2 seat to get black and tan interior, pay for two-tone option, AND pay for Steering wheel option, True He said the steering wheel and the black seating surfaces would not be leather, but this "micro suede" material. Does anyone have experience with micro suede? This will be my first Corvette and I am super excited as this is as close to a super-car as I will ever get, but not surprisingly I exceeded the $60,000 by a lot...at least no dealer gouging/mark-up which is surprising, though I am going to local dealer who only has 7 allocations and I am #7...I think my order is all (?) option constraint - free (?), but I have not done all the research yet. Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome; I am also new.

I can comment about seats: GT2 seats have adjustable wings and lumbar I believe; the GT1 has the same ability if you order the 2LT package (which you have)

Welcome. I'm not totally new but you have raised almost the same question about the seats that I did here https://www.midenginecorvetteforum.c...t-s-talk-seats

I believe the GT1 and GT2 seats are different in the latter having lumbar and bolster controls in addition to the 8-way movements of the GT1.

So I'm not agreeing with Mr Happy in this respect. The order sheet can be confusing when it comes to things like this.

It makes no sense to equip the GT1 seats with the extra capability but not activate it in LT1 trim.

      2020 C8 Corvette.D.O.B 2/03/2020
      Shadow Grey Metallic on Black
      2LT, Z51 + MRC. GT1 seats.
      Spectra Grey Tridents.
      Carbon flash mirrors and spoiler.

Congrats on your order! In answer to the lug nuts, traditionally the black wheels have shipped with chrome lugs.. i know... i was surprised too. So u may want to get a set to have ready. Give you something to put on your desk and look at while you wait

I'm not sure about that. Below is a clip from the Ordering Guide for the 2LT trim. Note that the GT2 seats are listed as "A" = available but not standard part of group, while the power adjustments below it have the square box to indicate that they are a standard part of the 2LT. There are no footnotes or asterisks to indicate that it's only true for the GT2 seat, so to it looks like it applies to both the GT1 and GT2 seats.

          AH2 Seats, GT2 bucket -- A
KQV Seats, heated and vented driver and passenger --
AL9 Seat adjuster, power driver lumbar control --
AT9 Seat adjuster, power passenger lumbar control --
AHE Seat adjuster, driver power bolster --
AHH Seat adjuster, passenger power bolster --

As to why GM would do this, I guess just as part of the market segmentation to make the 2LT package look more attractive.

Would be nice to have this confirmed by somebody visiting the Museum bash or Carlisle. (hint hint)

We are reading the same thing differently. That image was in my post as well. And it's misleading.

I read those 5 indented features as only being standard with the AH2 (GT2) seat. The format of the table does not allow any more detail.

I agree I'd like to know for sure. But 99% certain.

The Ordering guide also has this row standalone, not tied to the GT2 seats.

AL9 Seat adjuster, power driver lumbar control ■⁹ ■⁹

that shows lumbar adjustment is standard on 2LT and 3LT. Page 11 of the July 26th odering guide.

So I think as long as you get the 2LT trim you do get this adjustment.

Edit; Confirmed. The dealer info pack that Brad offered to send to people this morning says this:

              STANDARD ON 1LT AND 2LT
The standard GT1 seats feature a sports car
design, yet emphasize comfort with Mulan
leather. They are flatter on the seatback and
cushion, providing good support for varied
driving conditions. On 2LT, GT1 seats have
two-way lumbar, plus wing adjustments for
              premium support where needed.
              2LT seats
also include heating and ventilation for the
perfect temperature in all types of climates.

Interesting, I didn't view those items below the GT2 seat as 'indented' since all the subsequent lines (steering wheel, interior trim etc) are in the same style, but I can see how one could read it that way. As you say, it could be due to the limitations of the table's format, but GM seems to have worked around that in other cases by using numbered footnotes.

Anyway, I guess specific confirmation is the only way we'll know for sure, and since I was intending to only get the GT1 seats, this is of great interest to me. I hope I don't have to spend yet more bucks on the GT2 or Comp seats to get this feature. The 2LT package is already a big jump.

Thanks for finding that quote Meyerweb, that's reassuring. Of course we've already found one error in that Info Pack (the wheels) but let's assume it's the only one.

Well that is good news for me, since I wanted the additional adjustability. Getting 2LT for sure. If I can get the GT1 seats with it I'll be happy. I'm still going to get my sales guy to confirm next week.

I still find it illogical that if there is only one type of GT1 seat, then it will be equipped with the actuators for bolsters and lumbar, the wiring harness will provide power, and the only difference between 1LT and 2LT will be the little switch that controls them.

Not exactly, for there are other differences as Brad found for us in the Corvette Dealer Pack, specifically:

                        ”STANDARD ON 1LT AND 2LT
The standard GT1 seats feature a sports car
design, yet emphasize comfort with Mulan
leather. They are flatter on the seatback and
cushion, providing good support for varied
driving conditions. On 2LT, GT1 seats have
two-way lumbar, plus wing adjustments for
                        premium support where needed.
                        2LT seats
also include heating and ventilation for the
perfect temperature in all types of climates.”

There is one more key piece for those who are thinking, “how come GM didn’t give us four different Corvette seats?” The answer is that for every seat an OEM offers, they must test them in a car the NHTSA destruction methods; that process resulted in the end of 7 complete C8’s for each of the three seats they offer, e.g., 21 total mules destroyed.
2023 Z06: Hypersonic Gray HTC, two tone blue interior, CCB’s, 3LZ, E60, and with every visible carbon fiber option order-able including wheels. Lifetime, annual contributors, and 25 year members of National Corvette Museum. Home is the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

I suspect the seats in the 1LT don't have the air pump and bladder for the lumbar support, or the motor for the side bolsters. Nor the seat heaters and ventilation fans. Or any of the wiring for them. Some things have to be left out to reach the $60K price.

The GT seats in the C7 1LT don't have adjustable lumbar, either.

But GM does know which trim level the seat is going into. It's beyond unrealistic to think they're going to pay for all the motors and wiring in the base model car.

The GT seats have the same name and code on the C7 regardless of trim level, but don't have lumbar, heat or ventilation on the 1LT. And I don't think they have the adjustable side bolsters either, but off the top of my head I'm not positive. And they don't have the connectors for the seat heaters / fans, either. (Not sure about the other wiring.)
