  • What would YOU do....... regarding one likely order constraint???

As I'm #6, or possibly #5 at a dealership in the first round allocations, seeing the newly released list of color and option constraints the only issue that would be holding me back at this time is my desire for the painted Carbon Flash Ground Effects for Z51.

I'm going to officially place my order late this week after pricing comes out....... SO, would you wait it out on the constraint, or I could order without it, and IF prior to my order going to status 2000 the constraint goes away, add it ...... or just do without it, and then order it after the fact and install it myself when they are available ???

These are the front splitter and side skirts that are shipped separately to the dealer anyways and installed at time of delivery. On my C7, I told the dealer NOT to even open the boxes with the GS splitter and side skirts, as I sold them and I installed a set of exposed carbon fiber aftermarket STUNNING, C7 Carbon ones.

Decisions, decisions !!!!! Seeking your advise, please.

3LT Coupe, Z51 Torch Red with two toned Red/black interior. 5VM visible CF ground effects, Carbon Flash wheels, engine appearance package and Carbon Fiber interior trim. Mag Ride control. Red Calipers. VQK Splash Guards. Carbon fiber: Steering wheel, mirrors, High Wing, Door handles & boomerangs; Rear Diffuser with vertical diffuser fins; A Pillar; B Pillar; Rear Hatch Side Vents, as well as top camera surround piece and lower under glass piece; Engine bay surround pieces; and front grill trim.

Waiting a few months to get what I want isn't going to kill me. Not getting what I want will bug me forever. But if adding them later is a viable option... I guess I'd still just let the factory do it, because waiting a few months isn't going to kill me.
Delivered 5/29!: Scarlet Fever 2021 2LT HTC, Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat, two-tone Natural w/ suede inserts, Mag Ride, Performance Exhaust, MRR 755 Gunmetal wheels, Soler throttle controller, SmartTop HTC controller

If its an item that is shipped to the dealer? Id order the vehicle without the constraint. The aftermarket will probably have something less expensive and possibly nicer.. worst case scenerio you might be able to order the oem item from gene culley at a slight discount later on?

Bob, the good news for me is that the item in question is a DEALER installed option. This is something I can easily install myself once they would become available.

Maybe the supporting vender ASC will have something nicer for less money.

YES..... gene was my go to thought exactly, if I were to order the GM part after the fact when available !!! I've also already contacted C7 Carbon, (aftermarket) whom I've bought my set of exposed CF splitter and skirts from before and they were like jewelry ..... they are ordering a car too and need to get it first to make up their new product.

I am going to go through with my order and either order the parts from the dealer or aftermarket once they become available. Constraints have unknown delays. I am not going to wait 6-9 months for something I can add later.

The exposed carbon ground effects package isn't constrained... order that instead of carbon flash.

Personally it depends. By that I mean, for me, there are “required” options that if constrained would make the car a no deal. Others, including color I’m flexible on. If I were to order a C8 I would “require” LT2, Z51 and MSRC, virtually everything else I’m flexible on.

You asked what I would do, that really should have no bearing on what YOU do

I wouldn't sweat the high wing or the ground effects, they are dealer installed. which means you get your car, then you can go back later and have your dealer istall them. If you are in a cold weather state it totally doesn't matter. there is a difference with the warranty though, i believe. If you get it put on on your build sheet I believe its covered by your 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper. If you get it done later on I'm pretty sure you have far less of a warranty on it, maybe a year. But what is going to break on ground effects. I'd say, if you are in a cold weather state, get them in your order because you cant drive it anyway. If you aren't and you can drive in january, take your time, check your srapyness and if your decent either get the factory ground effects or go aftermarket.
