I remain the optimist, that there will be, as Bob Lutz has stated twice, most recently three weeks ago, that GM has solved the issue cargo/luggage space for a mid engine sports car.

Looking forward to our ME arriving, hopefully late next summer.

If you run the exhaust system piping under the halfshafts at the transaxle, you have plenty of storage space over the transaxle. Several exotics have the exhaust system and mufflers mounted above the halfshafts and that design leaves no storage room. Also, exhaust tubing does not have to be round. It can be a flat oval shape. NASCAR used this system under their cars with 3” of ground clearance, and these “flat tubes” support 870 horsepower engines easily. My opinion for storage in the ME is that it is not a problem. I will wait quietly for GM to release the ME and bet that storage will be reasonable.

Im sure it wont be as cavernous as the previous c5,c6, and c7.....but sports cars are not known for their luggage space.

plemty of room for a weekend of luggage...is expected...

more than any other rear mid engine sports car

        im sure.

the 911 always exists as it has the little rear jump seats that can be folded down...but thats a rear engine vehicle and not a rear mid engine,

im figuring the c8 will probably have as much luggage space as the 500 hp c5 z06 I used to own..

im looking forward to not having the same clutch pedal sticking as I continued to repair by swapping in a new slave,

the dct will be a cool new transmission whereby i wont have to endure that dam sticking clutch pedal.

my c6 i swapped out the fluid with the dealer every 1 or 2 as that became the gm solution ..

Thanks to fvs, cargo space rendering.

I also feel there will be space behind the seats and over the engine based on the larger size of the C8 compared to the 488
BTW, for comparison purposes, the frunk space of the 488 GTB has been reported to be 8 cubic feet (reduced to 6 however for the 488 GTB Pista version which for track usage, has massive front hood duct openings).

And with an estimated cubic feet of additional space behind the seats as found in the the McLaren 570S, the rumors of the Corvette ME being the death nell of long distance road trips, could properly start to fade...

We will have to cut up the dead bodies to fit in the c8 trunk...but total space wise...im sure it will still fit.
