Allow me please to start out. Hello “John” here (have posted as “elegant” and “Road Trip” on other forums).
I LOVE cars, been so addicted since I was a little kid, and would not go to sleep even as a four year old unless my parents read me my book on cars, trucks, and earth moving equipment (still have that book). Lived in Detroit for a while, then in New England a long time, moved to the Pacific Northwest when 29. Worked in different parts of the vehicle industry, including summers through college at a Ford assembly plant (paid the bills but not a Ford guy). At one point with my team, responsible to buy/maintain a fleet of 650+ varied vehicles. Now retired, and still car addicted.
Got my first Corvette ride as a junior in high school, in a new ‘63 Sebring Silver split window with 340 HP, factory 4 speed and factory air — and would buy a twin if I win the lottery. That started my Corvette-specific addiction.
Always wanted a Corvette, but did not have much money early, and with family/kids, work and building our house ourselves, everything else always came first. Finally bought our first new one, a ‘98 at 50 years old. And my and my wife’s addiction grew. Previous to our current Corvette, we had a 2006 Z06 — made first week of production (Buyers Tour and NCM Museum Delivery).
We are twenty-year members and annual contributors to the National Corvette Museum.
After our kids left the house, we have typically done 10,000 road trip miles each year (over 250,000+ road trip miles in total). Next year planning on roughly 20,000, including the National Corvette Caravan (am Co-Captain of the Pacific Northwest part). Hope our ME arrives in time to be on at least one of next year’s trips! We placed our deposit for it with Mike@Criswell on Feb. 1, 2015.
Going to be tough to hand off our C7 to someone else, for this car is such a joy!
