  • MECF Traveling Forum Flag Program Created

Might you want to become a member of the MECF Traveling Forum Flag group?

The idea of our having a MECF Forum Traveling Flag was created, and following written by our member “Ripper.”

Ripper presented this idea to our Admin/Moderators. We endorsed it unanimously and enthusiastically! He not only created this concept, but then purchased and donated our flag to MECF. He will kick off our Forum Flag by displaying it, taking a picture of it, and then meeting up with the person who wishes to carry it forth. [BTW, he was part of such a Forum Flag program on a non-car forum, where it worked beautifully for over five years.]

We greatly thank FVS for his volunteering to create, for his incredible artistry, in designing our forum flag!

The rumor of the MidEngine Corvette brought together a group of people, bound together by their love of cars, all makes and models… but in this case we’re talking Corvettes. We are a patient kind of people (very patient apparently), eagerly awaiting the release of the C8 MidEngine Corvette — the first of its kind, beginning of a legend and the end of another.

We started becoming “we” at this site when we joined MidEngineCorvetteForum.com (MECF).

Purpose: To share a little of our Corvette time with other MECF members, and to help publicize our forum, individual MECF members can choose to become part of our MECF Traveling Forum Flag group.

Program Description: Essentially we are a modern day Pony Express, handing the MECF flag directly to another member, then for the person who received it to further keep it moving forward. First, by displaying at a Corvette gathering; then by taking a picture of it on your Corvette or in an interesting place; placing that picture on the forum; and lastly, actively helping move the MECF Traveling Forum Flag by your personally handing it to another MECF member.

Thank you for displaying and taking care of our flag in a respectful manner. To do so, we the members of MidEngineCorvetteForum.com (MECF) hereby create the following standards to govern the use of our MECF Traveling Flag.

    Operational Description:

    1. Our Forum Flag is 2’ tall X 4’ wide, has corner suction grommets attached for the purpose of your affixing it to your windshield, hood, back window, or wherever you would want. It does not have a pole.

    2. Please do not wash it! It is nylon, and can only be delicately ironed at the lowest heat possible, with the iron constantly moving across its fabric.

    3. For traveling ease, please carefully roll it and place it into its traveling tube with its suction cups in place.

    4. While displayed on your car, be a positive MidEngineCorvetteForum and Corvette representative. We love all who love their cars, and bond on this positive basis, and when in our display, we display our positive side (even if the car next to yours if one you personally might not like). We recognize and respect that other car owners may have different means, tastes, and modifying-their-vehicle ideas.

    5. Please take care of the flag, to insure it is not “improperly borrowed” by a non-forum member, yet never putting yourself at personal risk

    6. Once you have received the MECF flag, please follow the proper procedures for documenting your time with the flag.

    7. Take a picture(s) of you with the flag and your car. If you are able, include your screen name in the photo on a piece of paper or any other creative ideas you may have.

    8. Post your picture(s) in this designated, stickied thread and if you use other social media, please considering sharing there as well.

    9. In your post, list your location so that some other forum member could reach out to you, then meet up with you so our MECF flag’s travels continue.

    10. You shall actively pass the flag along to a MECF member that is near you and is next to receive it; of course if you wish to take a 3,500 mile Corvette road trip to bring it to another member, feel free. Failure to comply will result in severely loud and smoky burnouts in your driveway!

    11. It is highly desirable to display the flag during a car show, a Cars-and-Coffee or a gathering of a few or more Corvettes.

    12. Thanks for always treating the flag with respect, for you will be representing your Corvette, all Corvettes, and our forum.

    13. If you lose, destroy, or in any way make unusable while in your possession, you agree to get it immediately replaced (re-purchase price is $34.88; contact “John” if needed).

    14. Once you have posted your picture(s) in this dedicated thread, it will be time to find the next MECF member and hand it to them to repeat our Pony Express process. If a Corvette acquaintance or friend of yours wishes to become a member of the forum to thus have their chance to display it on their Corvette, so much the better.

    15. If you are not willing to spend the time and expend a little fuel to help get to a member near you after you have posted your forum flag picture, please do not volunteer to receive the flag.

    16. Once you have displayed the flag, taken and posted a picture in this thread and transferred it to another MECF member, you can choose to put in your signature box “Displayed The MECF Forum Flag” (where that title would “travel” to all your future posts).

    Thank you.

While we are starting off with one Forum Flag, should someone wish to similarly purchase a second one, we could have another one start even at the opposite end of the country, or even have one in Canada, Europe, Australia or wherever.

A huge thanks to member “Ripper” for this concept and for his purchase and donation of the first flag and its traveling tube to our forum. Thank you very much Ripper!

With great appreciation for your considering joining our Traveling Forum Flag program.

Excited to see it finally come to fruition!

I'll have a proper official launch picture very soon and then this flag will be on it's way to traveling the country!

Who will be the next member to carry the flag? I'm in Fort Wayne Indiana for geographical reference.

I spoke with a friend who owns a T-Shirt shop and I was wondering if we might use any of the great renderings to make some T-shirts? Hats ? ??? Not sure if it's OK?

Would look great on the back of a shirt and the C8 logo again on the front left chest, the back would be a heavy print with all the black. Making it very uncomfortable. However... if we can get the artwork minus the background you could count me in!

This was a surprise car show I wasn't aware of... It's a Facebook Group "Fort Wayne Cars & Coffee" that seems to have really taken off. I don't and won't do facebook so if anyone wants to look it up, please do. They were very friendly and despite not expecting such a high turnout they handled it well. Give them a look and share our first flag video on their page!

This was a last minute event for me, so I grabbed my drone and hit the road for my long 4 mile trip... yup, 4 miles! I didn't realize my drone batteries were fairly depleted, and when I got it up and running I found the No Fly Zone needed updated so it was displaying a warning over my screen. I couldn't see anything I was filming because I the warning/notification would not close. Anyway, here's the first Picture and what Drone footage I could get at our seasons first event. Held at Biggby Coffee in Fort Wayne Indiana. I'd like thank Fort Wayne Cars & Coffee for organizing the event and Biggby Coffee for hosting. Please visit / like / share the facebook page and share our video there!

                      Who will be next?

I'll be at the Cars & Coffee event on the 20th in Auburn Indiana.

Willing to travel as well... I don't remember who posted that they wanted to be next because the post is gone now, but I'm willing to meet up. I want to say you were in Cincinnati, I'm willing to meet if it means I get to take a meaningful road trip. With the Bash coming up (I can't attend) I know there's someone coming within a few hundred miles of me... Let's make some magic happen!

I like this Idea! I'm in Akron, Ohio. Maybe we can meet up some time at an event! Unfortunately I will not be at the first Auburn event.
