Welcome to this great forum, Tons of information here on what might soon be and tons of info in general on tech engines trans etc. Be careful of that John guy though. He will have you believing that they are going to make a (GET THIS) Mid Engine Corvette. Just play along with him though. We don't want to see him go off the deep end. He's been in line for 4 years now.Rocket City Florida- 2001 ZO6 - 2013 427 Vert - 2020 Stingray

whippet1 Here is a link for you to start out with if you feel you would be stepping backwards. https://www.midenginecorvetteforum.c...ngine-platformRocket City Florida- 2001 ZO6 - 2013 427 Vert - 2020 Stingray

Welcome whippet1. Don’t think you would be taking a step backwards. The C8 looks pretty wide and unless your driving a Z06 or ZR1 the performance out to be right there for acceleration and improved handling. There is a madness to my method!
C8 on order Torch/Adrenaline Z51, MSRC, front lift
2015 Z06 Torch/adrenaline

whippet1, thanks for joining the forum. Of course as we all know and agree, what is most important is your getting what you wish. We have had more than a few members who have recently bought nicely discounted, gorgeous C7’s. If that is what you are wanting, go for it.
Let us add one fact into your own considerations, as you raised the issue of loving a wide body C7 (I have one and sure understand), as follows:
By the best calculations of two professionals who use CAD, have advance computer equipment (our members fvs and Skank), they independently came up with a calculation that the C8 will be about 2 to 2 1/2 inches wider than a C7 Stingray. As a wide bodied C7 is 3.15” wider than a Stingray, your width different is as much as 1.15” to as little as .65” inches. As they also believe the C8’s height is a touch lower, its visual appearance may have it even appearing wider than a wide bodied C7.
However, all those are irrelevant numbers, for what is most important is what you are wanting for yourself. Best of luck whichever way you choose to go.

For sure. I too can’t wait to go back when I get my C8. I have never driven a mid engine, so I will be in learning mode.
Here’s an older poll that might interest you.
