Thanks for having me here. I choose my forum name after seeing Shadow Gray Metallic at this year’s Bash. I love its being a rich metallic gray with a blue tint. (I still miss Cyber Gray.)

I am a co-owner of a C7. I am getting a 2020 mid engine — though it is going to be tough to say goodbye to my beloved C7.
Enjoying my Shadow gray C8. What a car it is.

Hello everyone. I am looking forward to being a member of this group and learning as much as I can about the C8. I currently own my third Corvette, a 2015 Z51 Stingray, pretty much as "plain vanilla" as you can get, but it meets all my requirements. Which brings me to my interest in this forum. I have two things I want to find out before I pull the trigger and order a C8. Will it have a manual transmission, and how much (or how little) trunk space will it have? For me, the main purpose for my Corvettes has been serving as a long distance GT for multi-day/week trips of 4 or 5000 mile about twice a year. I am very familiar with the pros and cons of mid-engined cars as I have owned a Lotus Europa for almost 40 years. A fun car, but not hardly a GT. So how the C8 manages to handle the interior volume issue is important to me, and I'd have to think long and hard if it won't have a manual transmission. In any case, I look forward to being a contributing member of this group.

Welcome Corvette Shadow and fox4gib! We are glad you joined us!

fox4gib, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, and of course this is not confirmed but a fairly widely accepted repetitive rumor, is that the 2020 ME Corvette will only come with a DCT transmission. Of course all those rumors could be dead wrong. As we have had 53 clutched-manual transmissions in a row, I too hope for a traditional clutch manual option. However, if I were betting, our 53 vehicle in a row streak could well be over. However, we will not know for sure until the reveal (estimated five months from now).

As to storage, as another person who extensively does road trips, over 250,000 miles in our lives, and 20,000 over the past two years, another 15,000 already scheduled for 2019, we understand storage space (though we travel light as possible). Bob Lutz said GM had the ME storage space issue solved, but again, we do not know.

Here is a related thread you might wish to read.

John, thanks for the feedback. Sure hope there will be a manual transmission option but will have to wait and see. Sticking with the C7 isn't a terrible option.
