  • HOW TO: Set/Change Your Avatar

    Click on the extreme lower right hand corner of your default avatar, then it will change to a small blue rectangle, with the words “Edit Avatar.” Select your avatar picture and insert it.

    The more “square” your picture is, the better it would turn out;

    Note: The maximum size of your profile picture image is 200 by 200. If after uploading your picture and it is larger than 200 by 200, use the cropping tool to highlight your favorite area and save it. The pic will be automatically resized to the allowed dimensions.

    Please note that as per our site rule # 4, we are a family friendly forum, and so please select your picture accordingly.

    Tags are used to label major subejct content of an internet article, e.g. Corvette, V8’s, maintainance. I do not use them, nor do you need to. Most computers have the ability to identify “photo properties” of a picture. After day two, we scaled up our picture acceptance size greatly (both pixel width and height and picture size). However, you have just tapped my knowledge in this area. I know we limit pixel size for avatars to 200X200,and I used picresize.com to do my avatar. Lastly, I know you can you can post 4MB pictures on our forum. Hope this is a little helpful.

        It may not be necessary to resize your photo before making the avatar. Click on the down arrow next to your user name at the top of this page and select My Profile. From your Profile, hover over the avatar area and select Edit Avatar when it appears. Browse and upload your pic. If the pic is too large, you will see a mask of a grey rectangle with a dotted outline (This is the cropping tool). You can center the mask anywhere on the uploaded pic. This mask is constrained in its proportions. So, resizing from the center of the mask walls will not work. Simply select a corner and drag out to resize. When you have the mask centered on your favorite part of the pic, select Save. The forum software will automatically resize the pic and create the avatar.
