  • No Longer Desire The C8 ZR1 - Say Whaaat?

I dropped my reservation for the ZR1 for a simple reason, no matter how bad a** she’ll be, she’ll still be another C8. As a few of you may know, the E-Ray is my Dream Corvette and I’m most pleased and blessed to be able to obtain her.

About a month ago it hit me, “Mr DJ, I said, why would you want two of the same models even if one has a bit more horsepower?” “How ‘bout you do a 1, 2, 3 as in C7, C8, C9?” That made and continues to make ABC sense to me. I don’t want to jump out of one C8 model just to jump into another C8 model because I could. But jumping into a model that’s totally different, yeah, makes big sense to me.

The C9 will end my Corvette career no matter if she’s an ICE, Hybrid, or BEV. And I’ll pass on a Corvette SUV simply because I’m sold on the GMC Hummer EV SUV, the GMC Denali EV, and the Chevy Blazer SS EV.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. Many c8 stingray owners are saying the same thing on the Eray or z06.

I think you are making the right choice with regards to owning a c7 grand sport, a c8 Eray and a c9. That’s quite the nice corvette personal lineup.

I have a question since you are so into the Eray.

does the cockpit of the Eray have a jet turbine sound (similar to a supercharger whine in the cabin or is it just during stealth mode operation)

JB my Man... I've watched a few Vlogs on that puppy and from the outside it sure does have a turbine sound and I do believe you can hear it also on the inside. We Air Force folks love the sound of turbines 😁 I even fly radio control turbine jets, at least I used to, check it out:

Nice, I've flown R/C for more than forty years. I've had several electric ducted fans but never a true turbine. That sound, just like the full size jets!
This was my favorite to fly, DA-50 powered.

Jetdriver, my Man... Nice! I started flying in 1985 while stationed in Japan; I still have a ton of planes in their boxes; I'm done flying, will never build what I have which is a shame. My largest DA was a 170; I used to have other scale turbine jets: F-16, F-14 w/Swinging Wings, F-18, F-4, many others that I never built but sold; checkout my 12' WS DC3 that I will never finish and fly:

Wow, that would be an impressive model at the field. I too have slowed down quite a bit from my earlier years in R/C. But the passion for aviation really never dies. I've sold off all the planes I could, and now just fly occasionally at my nieces farm. I'm down to 3 electrics and one indoor model.

MR DJ put the motors in and attach the wings. Send it up on its maiden voyage…it’s almost done unless it’s so big it’s now illegal to fly …get that bad boy up in the air!

                  who wouldn’t watch that video?

JB my Man, I made that Vlog 6 years ago and what you see is what it is 😁 I just got tired and lazy and old 😂 but for $10K she'll look good in back of anyone's van, truck, etc 😉 But you are correct, she'll look so good in the air and good folks like you, John, Jetdriver would definitely watch that video. I've been telling myself for 6 years and longer that I will one day build all of them but it hasn't happened yet 😔.

I really don't want to post more videos of that but I was working on a Secret Weapon called the HE 535 which is an upgraded to the DO 335. The Germans built the DO 335 that had engines in the front and rear; if they had more time, WW2 would have had a different outcome. Anyways, their upgrade which never got off the drawing board was the HE 535 which had a prop engine in the front and a turbine in the rear--just awesome and unheard of back then. Well, I was building it and I still have everything to make it happen. Ok, I'll post it; John, this will be the last one...ok? I'll first post the real video of that plane and then my model underneath:

Interesting perspective. The ZR1 is my dream C8. I have owned three C8 Stingrays, a Z06 and am on the list for an ERay, but the ZR1 is the one I have been waiting for.

I hear you...but 6 C8s to me is way out there. My cars are keepers, will be keeping all three. If the C8 ZR1 was my dream car, I wouldn't get the E-Ray; again, for me, one of X-model works for me.

Any chance you have put some miles on that beautiful black z06 yet?
