Convertibles are fun for a senior fan of Corvettes. I lower the top while stopped and on level ground. The weather channel on the infotainment system gives me warning when rain is on the horizon. Charlie aka cutnout

I realize that, in some situations, fully pulling over and stopping is not feasible. However, I also note that, at least in this part of the country, sudden cloudbursts are often accompanied by significant wind gusts.
And toweling off some rain in the interior of the car is a lot less inconvenient that having a sprung top mechanism repaired.

The C8’s top was tested to 24 MPH hundreds of times, all successful. However, a little known fact, that some of those times the car was deliberately testing going into the wind (and we are not talking about just a few miles of headwind). Bottom line, is that while we believe but are not yet sure that your C8 HTC will similarly “ding warn” you, as far as its structural integrity is concerned, do not worry if you are driving 24 MPH into a mild or “mild plus” headwind, that you are going to damage your top lowering/raising system.
