  • New Front Hood Rendering details

Here is a new render of the hood and vents. After a bit more detective work and closer examination of a higher res image, I came up with this.

Click image for larger version Name:	c8 iso real hood with vent for MECF.jpg Views:	1 Size:	5.02 MB ID:	6338
I used the paintshop front fascia to pick up the ridges and angles/bevels and note they are not dissimilar to the C7ZR1 hood ridges...just wider and more pronounced. Maybe this is why Nate said it reminded him of the ZR1 ? You can clearly see the center peak and bevels that travel back from the nose.
It also matches up with the CAD images and headlamp placement I posted earlier and also the visible lines on the C8R spy images. Note the line overlay and C8R spy image to see the shadow and highlight hood lines.
I also kept the split hood vent as can be seen on the C8R since a hood vent was described by C7Pimp and the anonymous source.
It's actually not "that" different than what I posted before...just sharper and cleaner ridges and I moved the Lambo hood vents back more to where they show on the C8R.
Let me know what you think!

I like it, and your rationale makes perfect sense.

Nice FVS Is this possibly only on the ME-R Version?

FVS - It will be interesting to see just how accurate you are.
You're basically performing Photogrammetry. There might be some 3-letter agencies looking to hire you soon!

Possibly the hood vent won;t be on the base model similar to the 458? But some feel the vent will be on the z06/ZORA level models. Both C7Pimp and an anonymous source claimed to see a version with this hood...but nothing is 100%

Thank you very much FVS. It looks like an foreign exotic, yet 100% looks like a Corvette exotic. Nice blend. GREAT work on you part!

That looks really good FVS! Those sharp lines on the hood bring some of the C7 design features onto the hood of the C8. And I do prefer the ZR1 wheels to those on the ME prototypes!

If the base has reasonable power/performance say equal to the C7 GS and IS a wide-body I'd be happy with it. Can alway put on an aftermarket vented hood and other "z06" styling treatments later. Personally, I don't believe a wide body will be needed or offered per se. As discussed in another thread, the 458 and 488 are essentially the same width...and also the same width as the GS and z06. I think the c8 ME is the same width as these cars so basically I'd like to get a GS version of the C8. I don't need 1000hp ! ; )

Maybe we will be lucky and the other versions will be available sooner than later. They do seem to be testing different versions at the same time.

I sure understand. We have never before gotten anything but a second year of a new Corvette generation. However, that was the past, and we are definitely getting a 2020 ME.

I like the ZR1 wheels too! Not so sure about the mule wheels yet. They are ok but not "knockout" at least not in the photos yet. But who knows...they may look great in the flesh.
