  • c8 colorway builds by FVS

Just a few colorway builds I was playing with.

I kinda like the grill winglets and scoop blade in body color. Balances better to my eye.

    What do you think?

    Very nice.

I also like your single color fender hash marks better than the current "two tone" offerings.

If I decide to add hash marks to my C8, they will be aftermarket (and solid colored).
    My C8:
    '20 Elkhart Lake Blue 2LT Coupe, Natural Interior, GT2 Two-Tone Seats, Performance Exhaust, Front Lift, Carbon Flash Wheels, Engine Appearance Package 2000 Status December 27, 2019; 3000 Status January 2, 2020; 3400 Status March 10, 2020;TPW March 16, 2020; Built June 4th, 2020 (COVID-19); Delivery July 1, 2020

    Current Vettes:
    '68 Lemans Blue 327/350 Convertible
    '91 Turquoise Convertible with Hardtop
'14 Lime Rock Green 2LT Convertible, Black Top, Kalahari, 7-Speed, Performance Exhaust

I agree with the front air intakes. The thin horizontal bar and vertical outside edge add a nice bit of body color to a front end which is mostly dark air intakes. If I end up not getting the body color exterior accents package I probably will have those particular pieces custom painted to match.

I like the *idea* of body colored side scoop blades to clean up the lines of the car, but I'm worried that the offset between surfaces will make it look odd. The blade starts out flush at it's highest point, by the time you hit the door cut line it's already almost 1/2 inch recessed, and the offset becomes even more pronounced further down. Body colored, you may look at it and feel "they must have installed it in a hurry and couldn't get it to line up". I know that isn't actually true, but that's just the immediate reflexive response one might have.

Edit: I personally don't care for the black rocker ground effects you've shown on the red car. I think it minimizes the muscularity of the rear "haunches" swelling out around the rear wheels. I like the smaller black rocker trim piece though since it tends to emphasize the coke-bottle shape.

Edit 2: By the way, in case you haven't seen it, we got our first real life shot of the body colored exterior trim on the silver car in this thread.

      Decisions, decisions.

Those two renders are gorgeous! I'll take one of each AND I'll graciously give the red one to my bride.

I really like the pewter 5 spoke wheels (at least in the visualizer) But I'm confused by the 'accessory' label attached to them. And the dealer brochure saying they only come as an 'extra' set of wheels. Could that actually be true...doesn't make any sense to me?

Does anyone know more about that?
'64 Silver Grey Coupe (custom paint)- still our favorite

Yes, they are sold as a second set of wheels delivered to your dealer. Same as the all-black Trident wheels (5DF). I have no idea why certain wheels are sold that way and others are not. Maybe somebody with more GM experience can chime in.

they are the factory hash marks. Just happens that the base color matches the hash color under color! ; )

I agree FVS, I like the winglets and scoop trim in body color, but I like the rear vents in black. Your second post color, is that shadow gray?

Thank you! I never considered builds with body color winglets and blades. Now that I see them it looks nice.

Note in the very last page of the order guide it shows that the black 5-open Spoke wheels are a duplicate set of wheels, one setthat comes from the factory and a second set you pick up at your dealers. Also true of the pewter ones, e.g. two complete sets of wheels.

If a wheel is designated as an accessory set (as those two are), they are again two complete sets of wheels.

As to why GM designates some as this two set combo, others as factory available, no one knows (but has been done this way for a while).
