  • Convertible prototypes are on the road

Just found this video, seems like they are testing the convertibles on the road now with little camo on the top:
    2023 C8 Stingray | Elkhart Lake Blue | 2LT | Coupe | European Model

I always preferred the look of coupe Corvettes over convertible ones. At least they're going the "spider" route now with a hard top, but I still think that I'm going to like the coupe more. Plus you can still take the roof off it you want to.

Still have a cover over the back.
      Slow playing.....

I think I would slightly prefer the profile of that version, but not enough at this point to get me off that beautiful coupe.

The test convertibles have been seen almost as long as we've been seeing cars on the road - I wrote about the visible differences back in the spring of 2018. They have been more careful in covering the rear area and the convertible will presumably get it's own reveal in the near future I hope.

There has been rumor that production of convertibles will coincide with the coupe. Again I feel the coupe with removable Targa top and the rear deck engine compartment. with a window is a great choice, IMO I just love that window in Ferraris. I think it is the coolest thing on the car.

I'm fortunate (in truth, it's a mixed blessing) enough to have an F430 Targa in the garage. The best thing about it is that pricey-to-replace window over the engine. I'd prefer a C8 drop-top when I get one, but no window will drive me to the coupe; a nice C6 or C7 drop-top can fill my "plein air" hankerings.

I wasn't aware that there was a Targa in the Ferrari 430, only a Fixed hard top and a Spyder. That's interesting.

Please do not get your hopes high that the HT’s production will start when the coupes does. Sorry, but not happening.

OK, but by saying that, in that way, the implication is that you know something? Or just a best guess? So what is your best guess as to convertible availability?

GM will later come out of the closet with more information, and just like we waited for what seemed to be eternity for the C8 Stingray coupes reveal, the wait for the HT convertible will also be worth it.

Ask yourselves this question please. If the HT convertible were going to start production the same time as the the coupe, and as we know they have been testing together for years, including most famously at the N’Ring middle of last September, why would not GM have revealed it last Thursday.

There is a specific minimum time for initial orders to go in before production starts, and if GM a) announces prices only for the coupe on August 15th, and then b) when the first consensus starts roughly a month to six weeks afterwards GM does not allow orders for HT convertibles to go in at that time, both those things would be confirmation that the HT convertible starts down the production line after the coupe.

Moreover, looking at previous generations, convertibles following couple production has been the pattern for the last three Corvette generations — sometimes for a long period of time. However, this time the delay will be less than many previous gens.

There will probably be such a huge demand for the coupe that they need to crank them out for some time before the vert can be brought out.

Troyce, the back of that F430 is just about the most awesome sight to me in the auto world. Have never owned one but drove one around Vegas one time.

Tried to do so, but of dubious quality.

Why is it called Convertible, wouldn't PERVERTIBLE be more appropriate?
