So glad for Austin to get his CF wheels and his run flat, low sidewall C8 Z06 tires and wheels mated. As to the specific techniques used by Paradise Chevrolet, those are not new but the identical ones used as far back as the early part of 2015 on the then brand new C7 Z06, e.g., a tire changing machine not providing enough air pressure to pop the bead instead using a direct air hose from the main large compressor in the shop to the tire.

Two other very successful techniques used again back to 2015 to assist include heating the tires (put them in the sunlight on a warm day, or in a closet with a hair dryer or equivalent, AND, running a tightened circumferential strap around the tire (halfway between each tire edge where the tread meets the sidewalk). That strap is tightened a little bit will force the bead edge outward a little bit. And of course having another set of arms for more pry bar leverage points from an additional tire changer was learned back then too.

So kudos to Paradise Chevrolet but they I am sure like many other successful tires shops learned this to successfully mount the also difficult C7 Z06 wheels. These techniques BTW are also “assisters” in mounting C8 Z06 tires on the aluminum wheels.

I do like and will share with my dealership when they change out mine, the additional safety precaution I learned about an additional piece of inside tape in the five lug holes to prevent the Hunter 5 “spoke” flange adapter from interacting the vis CF wheels directly. Good learning there!

We all know a lot more due to Austin's efforts and honest feedback. Also, another good job to GM PR team for finding a winning solution. Interesting look with the chrome lug nuts on the CF visible wheels, whereas I ordered the black replacements with a locking lug nut. But I must admit I do like his look too.

Great news and information on a real issue that needs to be addressed with all Z06 and Eray dealers. Hats off to all that called out the problem and helped to craft the solution.

John's background from prior generation tire challenges was extremely useful. I found it discouraging to learn that what I thought would be a trivial issue like installing new tires is a possible issue for corvette dealers.

I am hoping that for C8 Z06 and ERays with PS4 tires on aluminum forged rims this issue is a minor one ... but time will tell.

Having to coach the service team for work on a $150,000 car would be discouraging.
