  • New ME Rendering By A New Renderer: Quite Good

Vettetrocious did a really, really nice job on this rendering. I admire what he has created for our viewing. Fun to look at!

So I took bunch of clues and tried to subtract the cladding from a mule. In my opinion this is one way that the car might return to a softer look. Mike

What do you think of his rendering? Is it IYO, too soft and too much like a ME C6.5? Or, just perfect and you expect something just like this! Or, do you think the C8 would have sharper edges and more angularity than this?

While alway nice to see other opinions and thoughts, this image ignores the best known CAD details that seem to match the camo cars exactly.

If the cad details are correct and match the camo cars AND eyewitness descriptions, I don’t see why we should ignore these details simply for personal preference.

Could it it be a softer, rounder car. Sure. I don’t think so but would never say no 100% since we have not seen the car yet.

I quite like his take on the side intakes and it's very well done! I think that it will have sharper edges and more angularity though

The team of Ed Welburn, Tom Peters, Kirk Bennion and Hwasup Lee designed/created the very angular C7. The C8 was designed/created by Ed Welburn, Tom Peters, Kirk Bennion and Hwasup Lee; hence, why I personally think we would see A) a gorgeous C8, that B) is a very angular C8.

I keep hearing Kirk Bennion’s comments that a car needs to be performance designed; here were, thanks to CorvetteBlogger Kirk’s five goals from transitioning from the C6 to designing the C7.

[Quote=CorvetteBlogger]According to Kirk, those five goals were:
        • Change the Upper (top of the car) and give it something new, different and compelling.
        • Give the front a more serious look. Not angry, but serious.
        • Side coves to be more expressive, more bold.
        • Being a new generation, we wanted a new type of sculpture you haven’t seen before.
        • The rear must be a game changer with its unique light signature to show off the LED technology.[/.Quote]

Kirk is, among his many talents, a HPDE instructor. Another Kirk Bennion quote, taken from GM’s second, November, 2012, pre-C7-reveal teaser video:

"Performance cars are definitely all about form follows function," Bennion says in the video. "But I would say beautiful form follows performance-driven function."

While I really like the look Vetterocious created, it looks to me too much like a C6.5 ME would, not a C8 ME.

I'll still take one fvs's with the black roof over this.

Great looking car, but I think it’s leaning alittle too soft in looks. I prefer the sharper angular renderings we’ve been seeing.

I like it, but that's just my opinion. Nice side "coves" and less on-door "fang"...I really like the side window treatment.

I kind of like it (except for the "teeth" in the scoop), but like the more angular renders more. I have to agree with all those who think the car will be more angular, though. Looking at the photos taking at MPG, with less camo, I think it's going to be somewhere in the between the C7 and the render above. The curves of the fenders seem to be a little smoother, a little less angular than on the C7. And the rear appears to be rounder as well. (Still a lot of camo there, though). A mix of hard and soft edges?

Appreciate the effort, thx a bunch, but I'm not feeling it. I just think it's going to be more angular and aggressive looking. 35 days and we'll all see who got it the closest.

My C7 is getting more attractive. Thank You for the rendering, But, it is a bit more boring than other renders, yet very creative.
