  • AutoWeek’s C8 Rendering

AutoWeek’s thoughts about the new C8 are interesting, as is their new rendering. Their full article is at the link. They noted the significant excitement about the C8 is already upon us, yet suggested there will be some surprises at its reveal. I found this first paragraph and a follow up sentence most interesting.

The most surprising element of the C8 design is just how long the wheelbase of this car will be, due to its engine placement. Specifically, there is a vast distance between the edge of the door and the rear wheel arch that will require some surface feature just to break it up, visually, so that it doesn't look slabby or featureless. The engine intake incorporated into the doors will give that area of the car some depth, but the surface from the end of the door to the wheel arch certainly invites some additional design feature or contrasting color to break it up.”

C8 will likely need black side-sills, front lip spoiler and diffuser to look visually lighter, instead of being painted in a single color.”

I think some people are over interpreting these artist renderings. It shocks me that Autoweek even made some of these comments. I guess they have to get rid of some ink and time.

I am not seeing a two tone Corvette coming from the factory.

Since I am the resident fuel door inspector general, notice that the fuel door is on the wrong side of this render. I am really amazed how much better FVS and Chaz's renders are than this one. Autoweek must be trying to spike their web visits maybe. I give this render a C grade.

The internet really put the hurt in many of the auto news print magazines.

i used to love autoweeks weekly publication before the interweb...

im glad to see their response although the yellow sketch isn't really too detailed at this point.

I hope the fuel door is on the left but there are several cars that have it on the right ,our 14 CTS for one.

Will there be two tone colors coming from the factory?? I think Possibly . There may be a two tone Corvette coming from the factory with the send color being BLACK ONLY , incorporated into the car to accent the cars curves. Especially in future ZO6s or cars with anticipated flared fenders as the Euros do in some of their exotics to better enhance the lines. We may not see it today as we all still have past Corvettes in mind. I had a factory C4 two tone blue that was dumped on me . What an eyesore.
