  • C8 A pillars body colored or black?

as we get closer to the c8 reveal...i was wondering ...

will the c8 A pillars always be black or will they be body colored?

    whats your opinion or guess.?

I prefer BLACK with a convertible independent of the body color.

I'm of the opinion that all of 'em will be BLACK to make production easier. It really is easy (and cheap) to make 'em body colored using a wrap.

Good question JB. No birdies have been whispering on this one. Nor do I know now what I would prefer if a choice were a factory option. I need to see the car in person before deciding, and like some others, if I were to want it a different color and no factory option, would get ours painted or buy an ACS Composite aftermarket unit (snap the OEM off, snap the new one in).

For those getting a black ME, this would of course not be an issue. But for the rest of us???

I agree with John that I want to see the car first, but I thought body-color would have looked better on most C6s and C7s, so I lean toward that. But it all depends. And John's workaround works well if GM does not do whatever I decide I want. And interesting question but not a deal breaker by any means!

Many of the sletches we see show body color and then i watched a brink of speed you tube video that showed black.

the black looked pretty slick so i figured Id ask..

the cool part of black A pillars is they appear floating tops or bkend with the windshield from a distance...from an appearance perspective..

ferraris tend to be body colored...

corvettes have been black for quite a few generations...

i think body colored A pillar with the targa lift off roof in black (transparent blue on the inside) would or might look weird....

a convertible with a solid colored folding roof might be ok with body Painted A pillars..

im just shooting the breeze on topics that cross my mind as we await the offical release..

could be fun to look back after the release to see which choices GM made versus what we thought might be the way they would go...

          we are all just guessing...

black a pillars sound like a few pennies less than body colored A pillars.

On the C7, I like the black on the vert, especially with my black top. On the coupe, I always thought it looked kind of funny to have the body color stop at the top of the windshield. I've seen a couple of cars with the A pillars painted body color and like that look a lot.

Since the HT 'vert will have a body color roof, I think I'd prefer body colored A pillars. But I wouldn't refuse to buy the car if they're black.

agree meyerweb ... I like the black A pillars on my convertible. The coupe C7 ... not so much. Like John noted above, need to see the car in person. I would think body color A pillars for the HT conv, since I'm thinking the retractable top will be body color. The coupe top options could include a top that has body color spears along the side edges similar to the C7, and that would look good with body color A pillars. I think the C7 coupes that have those spears with the black A pillars look a bit strange. Of course it's all in what someone finds attractive ... or not
