We've been staring at the outside of Chevy Corvette C8 test cars for years now, and longer than expected after technical issues, so it's a wonderful break to finally get a look inside the car. The shots we have today give us a look at the steering wheel and instrument cluster. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the interior was obscured, but there are still interesting things to see.

The first thing to note is the distinctive two-spoke steering wheel. The center and spokes form a sort of boomerang shape. The top and bottom of the wheel are flat, and it has an almost hexagonal shape. The buttons on the wheel are arranged similarly to other GMvehicles, but they seem to be made from nicer materials and in shapes unique to the Corvette. There are also shift paddles that look to be aluminum. These aren't too surprising, since it seems the new Corvette may only offer a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Also noteworthy is the instrument cluster screen. It will probably be configurable like so many other luxury and sports cars with instrument screens, but this setup shows a big analog tachometer right in the middle, with ancillary readouts such as G-force on the sides. Fuel and temperature gauges are at the bottom. Over on the right is a bank of dedicated warning lights, evident by the illuminated "Check Engine" light.

Finally, we also get a look at the rear-view mirror. It appears to be functioning as a rear-view camera display like those found in Cadillacs. It could be a handy feature now that the Corvette is mid-engine and may have worse rear visibility.

We’ve already seen spy shots galore of the mid-engine Corvette C8 prototype, and have even peeped its covered-up interior. But today, our spy photographer managed to get a few detailed shots of the gauge cluster, despite the driver wailing his arms in protest – giving us a good idea of what drivers will see when behind the wheel of Chevrolet’s upcoming sports car.

Chevrolet Mid-Engine Corvette C8 Interior Instrument Panel Spy Shots - April 2019 003

The photos reveal the Corvette C8 as having a very modern and completely digital instrument cluster, with a prominent digital tachometer in the middle and a digital speedometer readout centered within the tech. Notice the Corvette logo between the speed readout and the tachometer sweep.

To the left of that is a G-Force meter that would show the G forces either to the left or right, with the scale reaching 1.25G at both ends, and a numerical readout above that with accuracy to two decimal places. Below the G force meter sits the odometer and engine temperature.

An infotainment section appears to flank the centered tachometer and speed readouts on the other (right) side of the instrument panel.

It is now clear that the future Corvette C8 will feature a very modern and high-tech gauge cluster (instrument panel) that will adequately communicate the high-performance nature of the

I like that they tape over the logo on the wheel, but there's little they can do about the one on the tach.

Rumors about the screen in front of the driving being 12” wide seem to be confirmed with this picture. The diameter of the C7 steering wheel, per Tadge, was not only the smallest one in Corvette history, but was 14”. To see inside the C8’s steering wheel, yet have as wide a view as possible, maybe we will be getting that rumored size screen.

More confirmation of the “squircle” steering wheel — with however it having rounded sides. More about the squircle if you wish:

Very cool ... the super sleuths are in full force today with the crossed flags on the tach, V8 symbology. check engine light and the over "tufted" rear spoiler. Looking good!

The great C8 myths so far include that it was not going to have a V8, that it was going to start at $169K (“confirmed’), that it was going to be revealed at NAIAS (“confirmed”).

The fact that the v8 logo is in the cluster tells me it will have a type of active fuel management (afm) my bet would be on the new dynamic skipfire that is in the higher end pickups now

We like that lots of the new tech is being real world tested on GM products before we get it. The Cadillac rear view camera system, the skipfire system, etc. We do not have to be the intro version for all new GM tech.

You can make out the crossed flags behind that black tape on the steering wheel if you squint and look through your right eye.

I wonder why they have the center of the top of the squircle steering wheel taped over... probably some sort of branding but I'm hoping for a cool indicator light helping you know when to shift, something kind of like this:
