  • 70th Anniversary 2023 Design Package?

What will it be? As to the thought that there will not be one, that is one bet no one should make when looking back at Corvette history since 1978 — and even more so recently.

Remember the beautiful 2013, 60th Anniversary Package (A/P)?

Before going forward, one piece of Corvette trivia was that the 2013 special edition premiered in the auto industry the use on an internal woven stripe within the canvas convertible’s top. I wonder what new feature will GM introduce for next year’s special edition?

Nicely GM allowed every person to put that AP on whatever model they wished from Stingray through ZR1. We expect the same for next year’s 70th Anniversary special edition.

What do you think its option colors components would be?

Seeing in the sun a stunning glorious Pearlescent Metallic White reflecting its flakes back to us where the sun hit it, and way more important some of us remember the comment made by the BGA Body and Paint Manager Chuck Valentini in 2017 when the groundbreaking occurred for the next paint shop, “we can not now do Pearlescent Metallic White but we will be able to in the new paint shop.”

And remembering that the 2012 Corvette optional package for the 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet, that the paint for that special edition was exclusively “metallic black”…. It was called the “2012 Centennial Edition Corvette Package.”

All remember that the 1953 Corvettes only came in white with a red interior.

So will the 70th Anniversary 2023 Design Package echo all 1953’s being white and only having red interiors? Might the 2023 Anniversary Design Package Corvettes only be a combination-variation of some past anniversary versions and thus all be Pearlescent Metallic White with all having a the Adrenaline Red interior — plus a few extra visuals?

If that is not your thinking, what would you like and think the 70th Anniversary special edition Design Package be?

I hope not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I didn't like the 2013 Anniversary Colors. However they still had 2013 60th Anniversary C6's which were not that color. Hopefully we can order them in our choice of color and they will also have the 70TH Anniversary Badges and whatever special included options for that package.

I love my 2013 60th Anniversary 427 just would never bought it if it were the above color.
And I know I will be getting a 2023 Z06 😎- but if we cannot choose the color then I would be forced to flip it.

I wouldn't mind seeing that two-tone metallic grey they did on the 1978 25th anniversary Corvette inspire the paint for the 2023 anniversary edition. I'm sure there will be nice embroidered headrests, badging, etc. or at least there SHOULD be.
On Order: 2LT Coupe, Z51, Elkhart Lake Blue, GT2 seats, Edge Red Calipers, Mag Ride, Front Lift, High Wing spoiler, R8C museum delivery.

      2000 status 5/1, 3000 on 5/4

We will all be able to choose from 12, 2023 colors, but probably if one selects the 70th Appearance Package option you will lose that choice. Simple solution if one doesn’t like the A/P option, skip it.

What would you like the A/P package to look like? Besides the white with the red interior that started this all, are there any other historic, notable Corvette colors in our history?

Looking at your earlier thread of CERV mid-engine prototypes that preceded the C8, any clues there?

Or might the 70th A/P Design Package picks up some clues from ZORA’s favorite Corvette, the XP-882? Or instead pick up on Corvette race team mostly being yellow cars?

I think it would be great if they come up with a two tone interior and exterior package for their 70th, and obviously Special Badges(that's a given) I just don't think it would be wise for them to pick either the int. or ext. colors. (And hopefully they learned their lesson with the light colored dash accents which are an obnoxious distraction day and night) If we have at least control of what those 2 colors could be on the inside and outside then that would please the masses.

I like the your idea of our choosing the combination of two interior colors from among all the C8 interior color options and perhaps two new ones too?

When the customer gets to make the decision it is a win win. It will be interestilng to see what they offer in choices for the anniversary addtion, my guess there will be plenty of happy options for folks to make.

It would be obvious from a distance also - if someone Checked the Appearance Package Box that the Outside would be immediately identified as 70TH by the two color combination no matter which 2 colors were chosen by their owner.

Two color exterior has already been mastered by BGA for the HTC, and easy to change the black top to another color. I am sure they would be able to figure out the same for the coupe, just like some of our own members with coupes have when they have wrapped or painted Its “top” parts.

Easy for me to already decide IF they return to a pure yellow again, e.g., yellow exterior with a black top and only black and yellow for the interior (with black on the top of the dash), though the seats, door panels and center console being black with major yellow components. SOLD at even a more than minimal price.

And I would pick some sort of Red and Black Combination if they do offer the two tone combo.

I think that would be exactly what would make us all HAPPY. And would make GM HAPPY with overwhelming orders.
And MOST of us will now realize it will be Worth The Wait ! And Hopefully we will have more patience this time around. LOL

I'm curious if the 70th Anniversary package/edition will be a standard set of cosmetics across all models, or perhaps the Z06 might get it's own unique 70th Anniversary treatment???
Put deposit down for 2020 C8 in July 2019, gave up my allocation to wait for the Z06, plan on getting Hypersonic Gray HTC

Good question. Based on what they have done before, most recently for the 2012 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet and the in 2013 for the 60th Anniversary, it was across every model/variant. The Z06 as you know only goes back to 1963, for that would be its 60th of course.

So much to learn. Maybe we do a thread on “what do you expect for the 2023, 70th Anniversary Editions?
