  • Powerful/Polished Shadow Gray Rendering Thanks To Chazcron

We first saw Shadow Gray Metallic at last April’s NCM Bash, and loved it then, though at that time it was only a “color test panel initially approved for later production.”

Our friends, fellow MECF members “duckvett” were there, looking at the same fender, then ordered this beauty.

One more Shadow Gray Metallic for visual candy.

Visuallizing any current color on a radically different upcoming ME is always a challenge, especially to my color defective eyes, but having seen the fender in person and now this Chazcron rendering, this color is now the clear head-of-the-pack forerunner for my wife and me.

Thank you very Chazcron for your wonderful rendering. Here is how he described this.

Of course there are no guarantees that Shadow Gray Metallic, nor our desired darkish Spice Red will be offered, but we are so hoping!

Now to make this our screen saver!

I'm making that my new main screen.

My only slight issue is that the color seems to me to look different on other GM vehicles. Is it that the BGA paint shop gets different results, or what?

When the weather clears I'm going to wander around my local dealers lot to see if I can find more examples.

Too much blue in it. I prefer my Watkins Glen Gray.
      Black over Sky Cool Gray.....2LT.....Z51.....FE4.....E60.....

It's a color that seems to be influenced by the surroundings.

I suspect that the examples in John's OP are reflecting the clear blue sky.

When I went to look at a Camaro under partly cloudy skies I saw this

This color must be very sunshine receptive, for when I googled SGM, I saw pictures identical to yours Bikerjulio, and yet this one too thanks to Buff Whelan Chevrolet.

I have reached out to duckvett to get some of their direct observations.

we just need permanent blue skies.......

Chevy have a similar grey called "satin steel metallic" and I'm wondering if that dealer I visited had mislabeled the car. I'd say it had a very little blue to it, but not nearly as blue as the first images here.

            Here's that color.

Here are two pictures duckvett took of their SGM on a sunny day.

What we need is the opportunity to park Spiral, Cyber, Shark, Watkins, Matrix & Shadow side-by-side on a sunny day. Only then will the true differences be seen.
SGM definitely changes dependent on the amount of light.

                John,
Thanks for posting my photos, not the best "background", but this time of year we can't be choosy - gotta get it out and drive while the sun shines.

As I said to John, Shadow Gray is a hard color to pin down other than to say it has more metallic and more blue than previous grays. It is extremely difficult to photograph. Someday I will find the perfect combination of light, camera, lens and filters to give a true representation of this color. Until then, I am lovin' the color and the car!

I do see some blue in the front fender. Close enough that I would consider this very similar to SGM, maybe under a different name.

Thanks for the answer. I'll continue to look for a while. The decision on color is the only one I have to make.

The photos here of SGM looked really nice, but when I went to look at that car I was not really impressed at all. It was just another silver/grey/slightly blue car.
