  • C8 Hood FVS Rendering Updates

FVS is still turning out his magic, this time spending hours on fine tuning the hood for it compliance with known facts, such as the front fascia picture we saw last October from within BGA, specifically insuring that the fascia’s know shape matches up excellently with the hood. We also had a spy picture months ago which “leaked” the shape of a “flat U-shape” scoop coming out of its rear corners.

The flattened U-scoop works beautifully to keep the air smoothly flowing over the hood, yet wrapping, tucked, around the cabin, something Ferrari knew when it earlier revealed to us when their 488. Please see the second post below.

FVS is still working on some other hood renderings which are coming fairly soon, but in the interim, we sure can enjoy this one.

Thank you fvs for your excellence bringing us more excitement!

Notice the parallel U-scoop curvatures on both, though Ed Welburn’s design team clearly wanted on the ME some hood creases a la the C7’s character — to insure tht when we see the C8 coming down the road toward use, we instantly know that it is a Corvette.

Below picture thanks and credit to CarGurus.

I think the sletch of the c8 should have the front bumper as the ferrari and the hood drops below the back of plastic front bumper and it looks like the ferrari vents air from the front grill and then flows over the hood for downforce?

        Just a thought...

I agree; was not suggesting that the C8 will have an elevation difference at the front of the hood where it meets the fascia, but that on the hood itself, there, because of aero reasons, both are/will be using very similar “channels.”

Here is a slightly more "polarizing" hood design that still generally fits the descriptions and includes a dual vent.

I was thinking that there "could" be vents starting at the front fascia edge and blends over the hood similar to this. It is a bit more aggressive than the standard but I think I could like something like this.

I added a white stripe...just because... Click image for larger version

“High school crush” is how I describe that hood. Thank you so much. I wish one were in my garage right now. That white stripe is a perfect combination, a great synthesis, of what I see in my mind when a C7’s hood (with its stripe), married a Ferrari 488 hood with its stripe.

Glorious looking! You can say, brand new avatar

Looks great, thank you; getting more and more excited; can you change the stripe to either black or dark silver? I don't know how to photoshop but would love to see a darker color stripe for my taste. Would appreciate it very much.

Would still like to see the top of the rear quarter panel rear brake air cooling and rear stabilization vents on the new C8.
