The Stingray’s DCT is an eight speed, is a clean sheet design that GM spec’d, and made by Tremec to meet Corvette’s rigourous duty testing cycle.

[Quote=Ed Piatek, Corvette Chief Engineer]It is two manual gearboxes that have clutches actuated by computers on a concentric shaft.
“During very aggressive launches you can actually drive torque through both shafts.”
I do not understand how that could work, but at 1:40+ in this GM video, that is what he said. Perhaps that allows smaller gear sizes (lesser weight), for the video explicitly notes that the DCT was designed for, and accomplishes a really low Center of Gravity...
In those hard launches you are actually still engaged in 2nd gear while you are engaging third — for almost zero time gap when no torque is interrupted. This could well be a major contributor to the amazing, sub 3.0 second 0-60 time. Thanks GM for this video
I took the very first two at the reveal; below the informative screen prints all from the above GM video
