  • Anybody Rockin' BBS CI-R Wheels?

I'm considering going with some aftermarket wheels for the Z51 C8. I know there are a zillion options out there. Some are seemingly awesome deals for forged wheels, some are stunning to look at, and some make me drool all over the floor. I'm leaning conservative though.

But my issue is that most have little history, no certifications, and I wonder who you would turn to if there were a serious issue.

I am looking at the BBS CI-R. Yes, they are pricey given that they are not true forged (like $3700 in bronze), but I am comfortable with the source (something like OZ or Rays as well, but I don't care for the styles). To me I got to be comfortable with what's spinning below. They might be a bit bland but..,.

    If you have a set:
Are you happy with the quality?
    Good fitment?
Do they have an improved offset to flush them up better?
    Any other comments?

I'd probably look at Bronze against Red Mist

Red Mist HTC, Carbon Flash Roof/Nacelles, Z51, 2LT, GT1 Seats - because I like the GT1 seats better! , Mag ride, Front lift, Low Profile Aero.

I ordered the very first set sold retail from Aerolarri in 2020
they are 1/2 inch wider that stock and the stock tires fit well.
The offset does push them out from stock.
I am happy with them...I did not like the polished rim and had them powder coated shiny black.
Plus, BBS quality played a role in my purchase.

I had a bent factory wheel and went on the search for new wheels in November. Tons of options out there with Forgeline, Apex, MRR, BC, Vossen, Titan, etc. but I landed on the tried and true combo of BBS wheels from Tire Rack. A few key things were TR actually showed them in stock, has fast delivery and they shipped to my local Discount Tire (owned by same parent company now) right down the street and were literally installed 3 days after I ordered them. I have used Tire Rack for 20+ years so was confident if wheels were damaged in shipping or for some reason didn't fit correctly or whatever they would stand by the product. Came with everything including lugnuts, center caps, etc.
Fitment is perfect to me and the offset looks aggressive without really looking "aftermarket". The same for the wheel design, as to me the C8 is really beautiful but lots of the aftermarket wheels just tend to look the same on it to me and all kinda tend to look like "aftermarket" wheels where as the BBS looks to me more like a factory option wheel. I also like that they don't make the factory wheel gap look any worse than the stock wheels which to me many aftermarket wheels (especially 20/21" combo) really make the factory gap look huge.
Also 1/2" wider than stock front and rear so have the option of going wider on the front tires if I start tracking this car more in the future.

Is your car Zeus bronze? The direct sunlight on it really makes it look good.

These are Vossen wheels….20/21’s….lowered…….I find they fill the gaps better than stock sizes…..

Not many have answered your question on BBS, but I've had many sets on sports cars over the years, and they are among the best. You can't go wrong with one of most long-standing quality brands, and one which has been an OEM supplier for many prestige makes.

That's a great classic design that will look great on a C8. I wouldn't worry about going with rotary forged, because that process has been perfected, and it offers a wheel just as strong with only slightly more weight than mono-block forged, at lower cost. They are still considerably lighter than cast.

I highly recommend Finspeed wheels. True forged, made in the USA and official wheel of the COTA raceway. Check out the F5 Spyders that are quite similar in design to the BBS shown. They are also less expensive than BBS and Finspeed has impeccable customer service.
