    That GM would have put a catch can in "if needed" is something I've argued in the past is simply untrue. GM isn't going to add anything that requires an owner to go back to the dealer every thousand miles or so for service. Manufacturers are doing everything they can to reduce maintenance requirements, as customers equate that with "quality."

    As far as Paul Koener, his article on catch cans completely ignored the oil vapor coming through the PCV valve, which is the primary source of oil in the intake. He's too knowledgeable to have overlooked that, so it had to be deliberate. Misleading at best. I have no doubt about his knowledge and skills, but he also has incentive to toe GM's line, so he keeps getting invited to give presentations at GM events.

    Just as I don't expect Tadge to ever publicly disagree with the official GM line, I don't expect Koener to do so.

      Meyerweb, you make great appearing to be immutable points but to me a picture speaks 1,000,000 words as to whether it is needed or not.

      As verified this is all the residue in the catch can after 1,000 miles.
