  • Can 18's go on the C8?

More tire options. And cheaper. Need a track set. Heard some speculation that 18's won't clear the control arms?

Forum sponsor Paragon said 18s won't clear the A-arms. 19s are the smallest you can go, and they barely clear.

I'm seeing people online tracking the C8 with 18's so I'm hearing mixed things. Just wanted to be sure.

The Real Question is WHY ... no seriously, what's the benefit to selecting a smaller wheel?

More tire options, and cheaper overall tire cost if you're planning on burning through tires at the track.

Sorry, Brad. I'm seeing so many conflicting reports online & don't want to risk thousands of $$ ordering the wrong set of custom wheels and tires. I've spoken to several wheel manufacturers -- it seems like nobody really knows the answer, or can state with certainty. So I give up. Unless you have some input?

Pictures would help ... if you can actually see what these changes look like on a C8, that should help.

So did you click on the link to go to their website, and ask them about it? I supposed with enough offset 18s would clear the A arms. But since Peltz seems to know what will fit, you'd probably be better off asking them than us.

Yup, I haven't heard back. Thanks for the suggestion on increased offset!

Seems to me why mess with a good thing. There's a video posted here with Randy Probst using oem tires and cheaper ones. Gm collaborated to get the most out of the tire for track use.

Yup, I tracked my C8 yesterday on my OEM Michelin summer tires - they're not bad, but there's a lot to be desired in terms of grip & longevity when comparing them to the 315/345 Hoosier A7's on my C6 (running on 18 inch wheels)! Randy's video was awesome but he was comparing the Michelins to some unknown (not track worthy) street tire.

If you're seriously going racing, the OEM tires aren't going to have nearly the grip of a true race tire. Or even the Cup 2s. The OEM Michelins are a great high performance street tire. Racing tires are in an entirely different league in terms of grip (and the flip side, in terms of rapid wear).
