  • Anyone wrapped a license plate yet?

So in California, displaying a front and rear license plate is required by law. I've seen car show videos filmed in state where troopers were ticketing folks who didn't have their front plates displayed.

I had read an article last year claiming that front license plate wraps were legalized in California. Even now, I see: https://licenseplatewrap.com/

Has anyone tried this out? Anyone got any photos? Would you recommend or no?

Probably have to scrape them off in the event of a sale. Can you order a second front license plate insert to stick that onto?

I will never put a front plate on my car, but that sure is a good idea if you must.

I live in California and do not have a front license plate on my C8. However most of the time I run with a Novistretch on the car. I have no intention of drilling holes in my C8 to mount a license plate.

There are mounting holes under the valence piece that has 'corvette' on it.

I have a wrap plate, it allows me to put the cover back on (had to poke some holes in it though). For now I will run with the cover on and see what happens.

As stated above, behind the cover plate there are 2 holes that are used for the mounting bracket. I made my own mounting bracket and used those 2 holes to mount it.
I didn't want to bend my vanity plates or screw holes in my car.
I believe there are mounting brackets that use screws under the car, but many states have a height mandate as well. You'd know best about Cali laws.

I can't figure out why anyone would be concerned about holes being drilled BEHIND the embossed crossed-flags cover plate. Dimples are molded in the recessed area for that very purpose. With the cover plate on there is no issue.

There are holes drilled all over your car already for various things.

It's not just the holes for me. It's bending the $300 vanity plates. Though I guess one could use standoffs so as not to bend the plates. I needed to beat the issue and considered it a challenge! A mod that doesn't require touching the car. lol

I have a vanity plate, and I didn't have to bend it. When you screw it in, it does a natural curve and can easily be flattened back out. There is no crease.

Foosh - are those bolts with a nut or a screw to attach plate to the bumper?

Mach147 is that a vinyl wrap plate or a bent vanity plate? Hard to tell from that image (could be my eyes). IIUC, the vinyl wrap plate I'm referring to a basically a sticker / stick-on license plate. That's what you have? If so, what did you adhere it to?

Murray20c8 ha!! I recognize that cutting board, mine may need to suffer a similar fate.

Foose yeah, I suspect that's what I may have to do. CA does have yellow on black vanity plates; yellow won't be great with my red+black vette...

Ontario plates crease.AFAIK. There is a ridge (Stamp out? Like the letters / numbers) all around the outside that it appears yours do not. One could easily use standoffs to keep it from bending though. But, like I said it was a challenge which I accepted!

I used the 4 self-tapping screws that came in the package with the OEM C8 US-plate mount. I did not use the plate mount, just removed the cover plate, and drilled 4 holes in the dimples behind the cover plate. They are perfectly spaced for a US-style plate, and the plate fits perfectly within that space. I put a black silicon plate border around the metal plate, which is available on Amazon.

The 100% new and pristine crossed-flags Carbon Flash cover plate is wrapped and stored for the next owner.

The cover plate is easily removed with a plastic trim tool without scratching it.
