My '23 Z51 (used) had the original cover and the previous owner had replaced it with a GM Sterling Silver cover. I decided to try painting the stock piece.

The sticker are a great color match, with a metallic flake. But the adhesive is poor, so I'll probably have to 86 them.

I found a stock engine cover through the forum for 100 or 125 shipped which hopefully helps me overcome the nerves to try something like this over the winter.

This post has provided a ton of inspiration! Thanks to all that have shared.

I used Dupli-color metal- cast (engine paint) from Advanced auto, it almost matches the valve covers. First grey primer then several coats of the red . It has some black in it so you must shake can constantly or some dark spot will happen like on mine. I was lucky the dealer had so many stock covers left at the dealership that he gave me this won to experiment with. I put it on to see how it looked and never took it off. Went to Hobby Lobby for the model car paints to do the emblem. I also put a couple of clear coats on it. Just wish I could get the sunken corvette letters black but every time I try it they look bad so I left them for now. My car has a red interior.

never thought to ask the dealer as those that see higher volumes probably have these laying around or at least for cheap. good call!

We have the Phastek Factory Paint Matched C8 Engine Covers made in a 2 stage painting process. This allows the paint to properly be paint matched and have a glossy finish. Our Cover will come with a new liner underneath and holds up to under hood temperatures. We paint match to GM's paint colors. If you're not sure what color code you have, you can check out our paint reference page which is always being updated with the latest color offerings for the Corvette model.

Quick Question. What color would be to match the red of the valve covers?

I love the paint match but trying to match the 70th anniversary wheels (q9a) while pulling in carbon flash, so total of three colors. I would also like to make it pop through the design in which the paint is applied. I am not an airbrush artist but some of those are gorgeous!

If I were going to go with a paint match in one of the formats you offer, I would 100% go this route over trying to do it myself and not coming out nearly as great as those who are professionals in the space.

The valve covers should be Edge Red from factory. You would need to paint your engine cover Edge Red or you can get Chevrolet's LT2 Edge Red C8 Engine Cover.

I have and they are holding up splendidly. I got mine from Corvette Mods, now absorbed by someone else, but you can find them on Ebay if you are still looking for them. Many different colors as I recall.

I also used Duplicolor metal cast primer under their red anodized paint. It is a close match to the valve covers, so much so that people have asked me if I painted both, of course, I did not. Also removed primed and painted the diagonal support bars as an accent. The flags are painted with common model car paint I happen to have on hand, (Testers) and this paint is also holding up very well. The Corvette lettering was from Corvette Mods. They have been absorbed by another company, but you can find the lettering on ebay easily. I have since added a hydrocarbon CF looking piece down the center vent area. Second photo

did mine myself also the trick to paint the flag is to block off everything but the flag shoot it black then all you have to do is paint in the colors with a very good fine brush testers is fine btw over 4000 miles all paint and decal letters holding up fine hope this helps

Here is my fairly detailed step by step on painting the engine cover.

More than two years ago and still looks like new:

                              https://www.midenginecorvetteforum.c...ers#post302043

In my case - target was perfectly matching the cover to the edge red on my calipers and valve covers.
