It’s pretty easy, when the doors are lifted I just grab the top rear edge of the door pocket, pull down, and when the door bottoms out at its regular horizontal plane I just pull it closed. Just a quick observation for anyone considering this mod, if you or your co-pilot/ better half have shoulder issues/ range of motion restrictions then this might not be the best mod for you πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸΌ

Looks great. I need to live with my C8 a bit before I decide to do something like this. It does look awesome! I am sure some of us would love to see a bit of video with the doors being opened and closed....if you have the chance.

If Eikon is only 20 minutes from you I would say that you absolutely should! Lucky guy.

Sounds like you defiantly need competent people with wrenches not hammers. πŸ˜‚

The install price is what scares me away. I got in contact with them and they were great to deal with; but my local shops didn't have much experience and couldn't quote (understandably).

    You made a great choice!
The install is the make or break part. My installers had done many of these conversions, they had seen C8s previously, and were able to provide a quote immediately. It'd be a real risk going with the wrong installer or with folks that just want to get the job done in a day. So yeah, I'll be eating those Ramen Noodles again for a while, but it was totally worth it! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ˜Ž Best of luck with your C8 πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

How long did it take to do the update?
Where did you have it done?
    $$$?
Is the kit available for any DIYers?
The install took 4 days. Got it done at Professional's Choice in West Babylon, Long Island, installation was $2800. I purchased the kit directly from the manufacturer Vertical Doors Inc for 2K - not sure if that price is still available, I got the deal from them in late June. Took about 5 weeks from the order to manufacture and get the kit to me, seems like they do small batches at a time. You could purchase from the manufacturer and DIY and save the install $$$, but be sure you get the door lift adjustments right and insure that all the panels line up properly ( the nose and fenders need to be removed to access the door hinges). Alternately, the Eikon company can sell you the kit plus installation (their website states that they have installation shops around the country or can send an installer to your home). Also, I believe that Eikon may offer financing.

It took 4 days, but because of my work schedule I missed taking her to Carlisle, couldn't get her until Monday. The folks at the shop offered to send me pics daily, but I said no, you can send me the pics of my car disassembled after I see the finished product. I know, gutless, but what the hay, lol. The owner of the shop Paul and his son Kevin are both Corvette lovers, Paul had a ZR1 and Kevin's got a wicked orange C7. The thing that I really liked was their obsessive attention to details, and the fact that they'd done many of these conversions, and were passionate Corvette specialists. They were also the installers recommended by the manufacturer of the door kit. I'm very pleased with their work πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
