  • DIY: Install a C8 radar detector using your rear view mirror for power

    Hi all,

I wanted to share this quick video with you on how to install a radar detector using your rear view mirror for power. Just buy an RJ11 plug & use a unit that has the smallest connectors possible, I got the 3 pack from Amazon that had all 3 & the smallest ones are the only ones that work.

        Hi all,

Here is the three pack of radar detector hardwire power cords I purchased online as I didn't know what size would work. The smallest ones pictured did the trick. They are delicate so be gentle.

        Thanks,
        Rich

Can you tell us what the three pack was called on Amazon? So we can search for it?

            Thanks,

Is there a DIY to effectively shorten the wire without buying shorter lengths?

Not that I’m aware of, I made the video because I couldn’t find one on the Internet & have waited too long to install mine. I wrapped mine in a small coil inside the cover so you only see a little bit of cord.

Just a suggestion for future how-to videos, by anyone. Start the video from the beginning, instead of after the work is done.

I did the same thing with my explorer but I wired in a dashcam. Can't wait to get my 2021 or 2022 C8. Still paying off the Explorer. Good video

I presently have a valentine one powered by the rear view mirror powered by one wire.

My question is why do I need a red and black wire on the c8?
