  • Engine cover painted to match car color

I think GM should offer color matched engine covers . I think it would be a simple option to offer and would be money maker for them. Click image for larger version

Matching the valve covers, as they are in the same proximity, seems to make sense. But would make more sense is to remove them yourself, paint them yourself and save the $500 minus $40 for the paint.

I have a red engine cover also , so I won't do anything with the valve cover s as I will be switching the engine covers periodically. You don't really notice the valve covers unless you really lean over the rear quarter.

They do already... as long as your car is black. ๐Ÿ˜€

Then there are those of us who bought a black C8 and first thing changed out its engine cover to Edge Red. As all have seen, the stock engine cover is more of a dark charcoal than a black. That I do not understand since GM actually had color specialists from another part of the company come in and work on every engine compartment color to make them โ€œwarmโ€ colors, and while color is far from my speciality, a matte charcoal is not warm appearing to me.

I agree, I also have the red cover and it looks awesome. I figured since I have the old cover , why not try something a little different. I actually bought a spray can of AC DELCO carbon flash spray paint on Amazon to spray the little runners on the cover black . it is available if you thought you might want the engine cover carbon flash on your black car . I used a semi gloss clear so it Wasent super shiny .

The body color matching engine cover does look good.

                          enjoy!

I hear ya Lance, my front rads have 4-5 dings in each one with 458 miles as of this morning. COVID got me with the first plastic company that was supposed to make the surrounds as they bailed on the project after more than 3 months. So I reached out & have been receiving a lot of help from several forum members, I wonโ€™t name them now but they have helped me get this to the next step and we are so close.

Only a fist class product will be released, they will be worth the wait as they will look absolutely factory. Sorry to all that are watching & waiting patiently...This hiccup was totally out of my control.
