  • ME 3rd OEM Wheel Option

Many of us have expressed less than total love for the two wheels we have seen on the ME IVERS, as in:

If GM were to give a third option next year, what are you hoping for that would be consistent with current, OEM Corvette wheel styles?

Here are some 2016 available OEM Corvette wheels that we have seen over the past five years that might be repeated — although probably in a slightly modified style. Any of these speak to you if at a reasonable price.

Glad you asked this. My plan is to get the Blade Silver for the car color and I think black wheels look the best with that color. Beyond that, I don't know what black wheel of the four listed above would be best. It is something I have thought about but would need advice from knowledgeable forum members as to which one would be the most desirable.

While a I recognize that is somewhat a personal preference call, there are other factors such as ease of cleaning, ability not to have brake dust cling, best wear characteristics, etc. The actual design of the wheel is not that important to me.

So I would pick black but need advice on which black to pick. At the time, black wheels were not an option for the base 2014 C7.

Our plan will be to choose among the best factory-orderable option for less than $2,000 (hopefully much less than that). For the first time ever, we plan on getting a second Corvette within one generation (probably a year two, but maybe a year three), so most likely we will choose from one of the two we have seen above, or Perhaps GM would surprise us with a third reasonable cost choice. However, since the 2020 will not be with us more than a couple of years, we will not therefore spend mega thousands on nicer GM wheels (some of the latter were $4,500+ a set for the C7), nor mega expensive afternarket wheels — which we did in 1998 replacing the factory “wagon wheels” with Fiske, LeMans-certified ones.

Just hope that GM gives us a third option, but it not, we will choose these (and unfortunately spend lots of time cleaning even after finding a super soft triangular brush). Wish they come in a brushed aluminum or partially-machined option.

If we only have the factory choice of the two we have seen, the one above will be my preference.
Enjoying my Shadow gray C8. What a car it is.

Im okay the two options presented, I dont really like brushed wheels on a supercar but thats just my opinion. Between those two I would go for the latter.

I like the Pearl Nickel finish. It's extremely tasteful. And, this is my first successful post with the image in the body of the text.

No preference other than it won’t be chrome.

Those wheels are asymmetrical and will cost a small fortune. I love them and will pony up for them. It also means that to rotate tires one has to remove them from the wheels. Big job, not entirely unlike changing the oil in a Bugatti. Okkkkk, not that big but not a do it yourself job either.

I hope we get better options, preferred polished wheels I also would like a big brake option or slotted rotors with bigger calipers.

Me too Scooter. Without a doubt there will be more choices. They are probably just using these crappy rims for their camo reasons.

Thanks to your post I just noticed the rotors in OP's photos are not slotted. Thats good news for me. I have no need for the higher performance of slotted rotors since I won't be tracking and that also "eliminates" brake dust issues. Looks like the base ME will not have slotted rotors! Thanks.
