  • Still Concerned Re ME’s Looks

Are you still concerned about the ME’s Looks? Worried it will look blah? Chunky? Clunky? Mis-shaped?

Long before this forum was even imagined, let alone became functional, I had posted in my last forum life, several times, that I believed that one person who posted that he had seen the car, really had seen it. I was/still am referring to “C7pimp.”

So for all those who are still concerned about how the 2020 Corvette mid engine C8 is going to look, will be be okay or not so...., here is, to me is the most telling post he has yet made about the ME.

I remember that post, and am hanging on his words to this day. I really like what we are seeing now that the cladding is gone, and it's going to get even better when the camo is removed!

While I’m sure it will look great, looks as we all know is subjective. What might be fabulous for pimp might be astrocious for others. I for one will love vettes no matter if they look like an Aztek. Ok maybe not that far. Lol

I'm also sure it will look great. I think the camoed version looks great! Of course beyond the looks and design, its functionality and reliability will be important factors. Judging by my C7 experience, I'm confident they will get that right too. Have had virtually no problems with my 2014 C7.

Gonna rely on new users like Administrator John's experience and trade journal reviews before I pull the trigger around December 2019. The forum is doing a great job keeping us informed of C8 developments.

There is absolutely no question in my mind that the C8 will be a stunning 'knockout'! Since 1953, the only two that I didn't lust for were the 1961 and 1973 (the idea of the miss-matched front and rear just didn't sit well with me). Over time, they grew on me as 'transitional' designs, but I still never bought one.

While I hoped that the design team would go 'all the way' as Ford did with the latest GT, I knew that utility, manufacturing, drivability and common sense would keep the designers rooted in the real world.

Bottom line....I'm confident that the C8 will be the best looking Corvette ever.... even better than the many 'teaser' ME's the design studio has shown us over the years.

Agreed, and I expect the ME will be just as loved (or even more so) by the general population as the stunning C7.

I do hope they offer a manual, as I love the flexibility a clutch offers wrt power delivery... we'll see. If no manual is offered, I expect the DCT will be a "new kind" of fun.

While at SEMA in 2012, I was looking at the engine being displayed for the new Stingray & talking to a GM rep. I told him when the C5 came out it took 2 years before I liked it enough to get one, and it took a year on the C6. I told him I was getting too old to wait a year or two to see if I liked it, I had a C7 in the works. I secured my dealers 1st allocation on an ME because I have no doubt it will also be outstanding.

It looks great and final reveal will have some that complained go O I like it now but still not buying one then buy it anyway.

I think many that are complaining about the looks never intended to purchase the car in the first place. They were not happy GM was going to an ME and looking for faults, with some wanting a Halo ME while some not wanting change at all.

In the end if I don’t like the way a car looks I move on and buy one that I do like.

I'm not having any problem with the looks. I feel it looks incredible, The problem is GM needs to acknowledge the vehicle at least because I have been looking a little too hard at purchasing a ME and there has been no report that I know of GM coming forward and letting us know it will be making it into production.

Frenzy36 I think with all the mules running around it is surely a reasonably safe bet it’s showing up. I’ll be darned surprised if it doesn’t.

It is confirmed the ME Corvette is coming at 2020, available for purchase, next year. GM will acknowledge this however, at a later date — on their schedule, with their not responding to our impatience.

And if they can string out the announcement a little longer, and some more folks buy a 2019 C7, GM will be smiling even broader. As a point of reference, I have two friends who within the last two weeks, each bought a 2019 Grand Sport. Not that they did not know about the 2020 ME, but just the 2019 Grand Sport is exactly what they want at this point in their lives. Good for them; and good for GM.

They did. At their annual dealers convention in Vegas earlier this year. One of the forum dealers on CF was there and gave a little info as they were showed the front end and part of the hood. And GM isn't investing millions of dollars in test mules running around on public streets and sending 4 cars to the Ring if they're not producing the car. Not sure why you're thinking they wont. No manufacturer confirms a car before its public reveal.

I get the Reveal Time Frame is all on them. However what would it hurt to at least Acknowledge It Will Be Put Into Future Production ? Most people have to jockey their finances and sell off other vehicles in preparation for a large financial displacement. This car definitely falls in the WANT CATEGORY not NEED CATEGORY. I just feel it's a mistake on their part as some may choose to look elsewhere as they may be looking for a TOY in the near future and may get tired of waiting for Official Information. JMO
