Thanks TAdams65, Murry, and meyerweb for chiming in with your suggestions. I'm still waiting for the sales guy to contact me so I can go in and meet him and get my order processed.

I will look around at the dealership when I'm there and if I can't find anything with that color, I will start looking around elsewhere.

I do plan on ordering with the Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic since I will have a little time to figure this out and can make a color change if needed.

    Cheers, PB

ELB is available on the 2019 C7, so you might be able to find one on a dealer lot to look at. FWIW, I don't recall ever thinking that color looks purple.

The Metallic in paints are actually plastic flakes. I have a 2000 Camaro in Navy Blue Metallic and it has purple flakes in the paint. I would HIGHLY recommend you go look at a 2019 anyway. Take a strong flashlight with you and look at it closely from all angles to see what colour the flakes are.

The Elkhart Lake Blue is very similar to the blue my 19 Chevy Cruze is, and the Hyper Blue Metallic my 16 Camaro was. It does not look purple in any light.

Thanks John. I've looked at a lot of pictures but this is something that needs to be done in person. Since we don't have much sun around here most of the time during this time of year, looking at one now probably won't help me. If I'm in doubt, I will either get red or yellow.

    Cheers, PB

Nice write up. I was leaning towards the Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic. By any chance did it look purple when the sun hit it at certain angles?

Years ago I ordered a 2006 HHR in dark blue, I think it was called Daytona Blue but don't recall now. I had seen that color at the dealership but never on a sunny day as it was just coming into winter here in Washington State. After picking up the car in January, I didn't get a chance to see it in the bright sunlight until springtime.

I was heartbroken the first time the sun hit and it looked purple. I hate purple! I was very upset but nothing I could do about it. I actually still own the car, it's my daily driver.

I would be horrified if the Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic looked purple in the sun and if I knew in advance it was going to do that, I would order a different color.

    What are your thought?

    Cheers, PB

Interesting way to look at it. I went with the exterior colour first and then picked the wheels, interior colour and accents that matched. Though I must admit that knowing that the mirrors and grills etc were black I went with the black wheels for that reason.

Is this Rapid Blue or the Torch Red Exotic as a combo of ordinary? Just keep it simply black and sky blue or black fire engine red. Exotic as it will get.

I was torn between the Blade Silver and the ELB. But I've never owned a blue car among the ship-loads of cars that I have owned, and my daily driver and C2 are both silver. Also, the ELB just seemed to call out to me, flipping between the Blade Silver and ELB images on the configurator.

For example the Blade Silver with silver wheels is appealing to me, but with black wheels not so. its a different color. Its simply a gray car.

The Torch Red is totally different with black wheels and trim, than it is with silver wheels and silver stripes.

And all the colors are "primary school colors". Look at the McLaren color chart o line.

But: 59K$. Fancy paint seems to be costly . The paint colors are probably perfectly $59K. Good Job Corvette

While at corvette Carlisle for several days I looked at colors available a lot and came away liking the torch red the most even though I’ve never been a red corvette lover. Go figure! Our C7 zo6 conv is blade silver with red gut and for sure that is a great combo.

    ^This.

I was really surprised at the orange peel on my 2015 C7. I'd never bought a car that expensive and really expected to see a super smooth finish. I guess you have to buy a Ferrari or a Lambo to get mirror finish paint?

I'm in the camp that continues to be very disappointed in what I believe to be relatively unimaginative color availability for Corvettes. They just don't represent the vast array of truly spectacular colors that are available for automotive use. I understand that especially most male buyers tend to be 'stuck' in basic common, traditional colors; and therefore GM knows they need to stay with those. However, to me, it seems like a missed opportunity to make the C8 really, really special with outstanding color choices.

The engineering and design excellence of this car deserves better.
