According to the GM's BG Communication Manager: "We are going to undergo some launch related downtime that's between the weeks of November 18th through December 6th."

Could this mean that 12/9 through 12/20 would be C8 production? Then 2 weeks off for Christmas and New Years? Production resumes 1/6/2020?

After Fourty days off, I can't imagine why they wouldn't be back at work TODAY! They have had ample time to plan for getting back to work.

For sure we will learn more in the next few days, especially when the production workers have returned in mass. We hope for tomorrow to be that day.

The parts for the 600-700 C7’s remaining to be built, were ordered over 2 1/2 months ago. A large percentage of their parts have been on BGA grounds since right before the strike. There are for example, some C7’s already are 100% completed awaiting the one day post-assembly paper process, some within an hour of being completed, etc., and of course some not yet started.

The body panels for all Corvettes are routinely finished being painted about three days before the chassis starts down the line, so with an assembly rate of 11.6 units/hour, 92 per day, almost half of all of the C7’s body panels are already out of the paint shop, waiting for their install.

With perhaps 2/3’s of the parts already on site, it’s primarily time for assembly. However, to get the equipment ready for that (there are for example seven miles of conveyor belts), to get all the dormant other equipment lubricated, and to get the paint shop up and running to paint the remaking approximate 300 more C7’s body panels, and similar plant start up activities, will take several days to get off and running.

Just curious, hoping they are surveying the plant so they can get parts ordered and resume operations asap to get the last of the C7s built.

    Thanks!
