    Good question. I've been staring at it for a couple of minutes, but I'm drawing blanks. My best guess is that maybe the cover that they were using broke/ripped? Kind of looks ragged and uneven around the edges.

            That is the HT convertible, and has deck lid venting in different fashion/location than the side venting on the coupe. The sides of this are the covered side buttresses.

                Just found the perfect picture to help us understand the question this thread poses, “what is this opening please.”

                As OnPoint answered above, it is venting for the HT convertible. This picture is the proverbial “worth 1,000 words” to clearly show how it works.
