  • Open Rear Hatch on Coupe

I have seen several pictures with the rear hatch open and it seems to go up very high. I realize the car itself sits low, but is there a way to limit how high it goes? Many SUV's have a way to limit the highest point the hatch will open with a memory function. Anybody know the answer...Or, perhaps the hatch, being manual, will only go as high as one lifts it?

i asked that question of GM a week ago. No answer has been received. I specifically asked it for Heidi, her asking on our forum as to what was the max height of rear hatch when the HTC goes up and down (e.g., garage height potential issues).

As to the coupe, we do not have a max height answer either, but we do know that unlike an SUV, there is no highest height protection automatic or adjustable setting, e.g., everything all manual. I suspect the identical situation for HTC’s, e.g, their owners are going to have to figure it out, be careful, perhaps not raise or lower it if within a short ceiling height garage.

We do not have any good answer to these issues at this time.

I do not think the convertible will be much of an issue since the hatch is a lot shorter.

I had the impression of the one that I saw that it did not automatically move up to the highest point. I moved it around with my hand. Of course, this is a preproduction model, I am by no means an expert, and I also was not really testing it with that in mind, mainly looking at the engine compartment.

But the cover over the roof storage area goes up pretty high.

As to the max height of the convertible (the question I earlier asked), Harlan just got back to me and said it was 80” in its fully raised position. We will get someone at an upcoming mobile dealership display to figure out the coupe’s max height. As it is manual one could lift it up the amount wanted, for I too have seen folks lift it up to an interim height. But nevertheless we will get an answer to that question.

Now to PM Heidi to insure she got her question answered.
