  • POLL: Weekend Reveal Announcement

Looking at our reveal prediction thread , over 50% have voted for the ME being revealed in January at the NAIAS auto show. I voted for the NAIAS reveal. Here is our still, open-to-vote poll:

    https://www.midenginecorvetteforum.c...eal-place-date

Background: On October 12, 2012, at the Road Atlanta where the C6.R’s were racing, GM 1) showed the C7’s emblem, and 2) announced that the next generation Corvette’s reveal will be at NAIAS?

In talking with several Corvette ME aficionados lately, we agreed on some things:

    A) That the most likely places for the ME’s initial reveal will be either the LA Auto Show (December 1st), or the mid-January, NAIAS show in Detroit;
    B) To do a pre-reveal teaser program, GM would want at least a couple of months between the initial announcement that “on such and such date at such and such location, we will reveal the next Corvette generation,” and the actual, subsequent reveal date of the 2020 mid engine Corvette.
    3) If the mid engine Corvette’s reveal were to be at the LA Show, making such an announcement would fit, timing-wise, with this Saturday’s Corvette Racing Dinner Banquet and Sunday’s the C7.R Laguna Seca race, but, conversely, that if nothing were mentioned this weekend about the ME, then the most probably location for that pre-reveal announcement would be the October 13th Petit LeMans weekend (and if the latter, that would probably best work, again with pre-reveal teaser timing, for the actual reveal to not be until NAIAS).

    Picture

Question: Could this Saturday’s Corvette Race Dinner be the time to, at the end the evening after dinner’s powerpoint “20 Years of Corvette Racing” presentation, then next have a video of the ME at the Nurburgring, a screen shot of the next-gen emblem, and also announce that “the next generation Corvette will be revealed at X (location) on Y (specific date)”?

POLL: Is GM going to show the C8’s emblem and announce the late date of the car’s reveal and it location this coming weekend either at the Dinner or at Sunday’s C7.R race?

    1) No announcements this weekend, just a Corvette Race Dinner & C7.R Race events.
    2) This weekend, the C8’s emblem will be shown and GM will announce the ME’s reveal date and cation.

    Nom
    19
No announcements this weekend, just a Corvette Race Dinner & C7.R Race
    42.11%
    8
This weekend the C8’s emblem will be shown & GM will announce the ME’s reveallocation
    57.89%
    11

    The poll is expired.

I think a company like GM is like an aircraft carrier in a large bathtub which means to turn a full 360 degrees it’s very slow and strategic.

      Have a few questions.

In 2012 was that the last race of the year? If yes when is the last race in 2018 season?
Do we know if Tadge and the corvette team is at this Saturday,Sunday Race event? If so they admit they are building the new C8 C8/R race car and that is it. Maybe the C8 Emblem, my thoughts we get very little info. Unless this thing is coming out sooner than I think. To many months left to keep us all crazy and build more hype beyond the walls of Corvette enthusiasts.

My want is a reveal in California La Auto or private event not in that cold A place we call Detroit. My Conclusion: We know this is the biggest reveal in Corvettes history. I was first saying it would be released/revealed sooner or even a private event. Now I think they do it in their backyard Detroit they owe it to their city reveal it on their home turf.
Then tease the hell out of us with pictures and similar release like John has posted as they did with the C7.

In order to show the emblem, they'd have to admit that the car exists lol. As much as I'd love for the second option to be true, I think that it's still a little bit too soon and that they're going to keep the car as a not so secret secret for little while longer. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Well, I wish I was going to that event.

Anyone, we know going to it?

John was the above event held in 2012? And if yes when?

Did the same Corvette team attend?

I do not know answers to your last two questions, but yes we do have a forum person attending, who said he would tell us asap if anything happens the entire weekend, for he is also attending the C7.R race on Sunday.

That is what I thought thanks John as I been so busy with work I am not retaining info. I am officially ME CRAZY.

You are right this weekend is a big deal and I think it will tell us a lot either way. If nothing happens or is said Then we know the next best shot, GM follows tradition and tell us at the last race of the year as they did in 2012. I am hoping for this weekend at least C8R info

Would be Great to at least have them admit they are definitely going to produce one. After all the years of ME prototypes whatever they call it running around on the track looks ,sounds and seems to react amazing. Please let the Cat Out Of The Bag !

The C8 ME Zora targa base model to now debut at Los Angeles with both targa and folding hard top base model at Detroit. Though Detroit could debut both without Los Angeles getting the first look. The higher performance wide body ME Zora will then debut at next years Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance. Both ME targa and folding hard top models and future higher performance models will be both left hand and right hand drive for all world wide markets. England and Australia can then expand the Corvette marketing. The new C8 FE Stingray, Grand Sport, ZO6, and ZR1 models going forward will also be both left and right hand drive for all world wide markets. Therefore both ME and FE models will be left and right hand drives going forward by utilizing common left or right steering and control assemblies. The Zora name being trademarked world wide indicates this. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it !!

Since it's the biggest reveal in Corvette history, I wonder how they'll tell everyone. Will it be a simple "yeah, that's the Midengine Corvette" or will they put on a big show? Also wonder when that will be, but I think that GM is going to hold onto this "Secret" for a little bit longer and we'll finally find out at the Petit LeMans on October 13/14th.

With any big announcement, they would certainly include their Marketing Director, Charles Harlen........ don't see him listed on the Dinner flier.

Harlan has worked the last two weekends on the special events of Corvettes at Carlisle and the 24th Anniversary NCM event (in addition to his long regular work weeks), so I would not, ipso facto, take his absence from the Corvette Racing Dinner as a measure of what might or might now occur.

Mid Oct at the Petit LeMans sounds early to me, but... at this point we really are all just speculating. I hope you're right. I want to see this baby!

We can hope we hear something this weekend. If not just 40 days until the Petit LeMans race (where they announced on Oct. 12, 2012, that “the next generation Corvette will be revealed on 1.13.13 at NAIAS.”

If we hear anything this weekend, I would guess that the chances of them using the words “mid engine” are less than 1%, that it would instead only be referred to as the “next generation Corvette.”
