  • Your Use of Your ME?

While very few of us do anything 100%, what are you thinking your use, or uses of your ME will be? Maybe percentages if multiple uses? Any explanations?

Are you planning on your ME to be a daily driver, a track weapon, special occasions car, a road tripper, or ?

I'll be using it the same as I use my C7. A fair weather driver with some occasional trips. Closest I'll get to a track is tearing past Dover International Speedway on that beautiful stretch of Route 1 in DE.

A lot of cruises & local shows the 1st yr. Hopefully have it this time next yr for Rt 66 Mother Road show in Spfld Il, although past delivery luck hasn't been that good. Our 2010 GS was scheduled for delivery the week of the show in 09 (1st GS in town) but someone thought it should sit on the transport truck for 4 days at the Mid America Corvette Show in Effingham Il. It arrived Monday morning @ 7:30 am. Our C7 arrived 2 weeks after the show in 2013 (nobodies fault) also 1st in town. Maybe our luck will change this time. Will use for weekend trips, in town errands (bank, grocery, haircuts, etc), church, & plain enjoyment.

With four cars in our garage, the use of each depends on where, how many (three are 2 passenger), which one has gas in the tank, and the weather. With that said, my wife really prefers the Ferrari and occasionally the C7 vert. I'm thinking she won't be as likely to grab the ME since it will be more challenging to get in and out of, and shopping will be more problematic with the 'funk'. Her buddies are a lot more comfortable joining her in the 'Italian' rather than the C7 or Aston Martin, where they have to either hold their purses in their laps or put 'em in the trunk.

I'm pretty certain that the ME will be a 'fun' road trip car and will likely find its way out to the annual Eureka Springs event as well as Corvettes in the Rockies. I'm sure we'll also make it out to the Woodward Dream Cruise in conjunction with Carlisle too. A stop at the Museum in Bowling Green going or coming would also fit right in.

We tent to do a lot of that kind of stuff the first year or two, then it becomes a Starbucks and Cars & Coffee ride.....

Our ME will be our special occaisions car, with its total mileage probably being more than 50% on road trips — as with our current and past Corvettes. Bet it makes several cross-country trips. A good amount of rest will be “carving curvy country Corvette corners” on a very isolated 100 mile, almost no traffic, road not far from us, and some local “Corvettes mystery drives,” going out to eat, and similar. Conversely, it is not going to be an “errand” car.

I was discussing this with a friend yesterday, and I'll have to see if I can fit in it and how much cargo space it will have before i can figure it all out. People under 6' have a distinct advantage when it comes to 'fitting' in a sports car these days. (and I ain't one of 'em )

Like others, our ME will be an addition as we have other "fun" cars (C7 Callaway Z06 757hp; C6 Lingenfelter ZR1; and a '68 GTO convertible). We will continue to enjoy the fun cars, and the ME will slide into the fold as the newest member. I've tracked all my vettes (including 2 previous ones), and they've seen long road trips, as well as just simple cruising. The GTO hasn't formally been on track like the vettes have been, but it's seen triple digit speeds and red light hooliganism.

I'll use the ME in the same fashion. it'll see the track. It'll be driven on long trips. And we'll simply drive it and enjoy it.

And to me, this is perhaps one of Corvettes greatest attributes - its performance and reliability/serviceability. I've nearly purchased an exotic ME on several occasions, but declined each time due to lack of dealers (and thus trained/authorized techs) to service them. I have neighbor just a few doors down from me who owns 2 modern Bentleys. Once a year, a truck shows up and loads up his Bentleys to be taken off for their annual service. What a PIA. As much as I've wanted a well sorted ME, I have no patience for a machine I can't drive, have readily serviced, and use when I want to use it.

GM is about to give us such an ME - driveable, serviceable, reliable - all the things most other MEs (most outside of Porsche, at least) are not.

First ME will be a daily driver, it will get modded to be unique and personalized. Second ME 2022 ? Will be the high performance version if there is going to be one. It will be a Show car and limited mileage garage queen.

Going to do as much driving of it as I can. However, very little use of it for shorter around town trips, and no track use.

Track days for sure. Also, possible loop of the USA. No garage queens for me, it’s a car, drive it.

We did our “4 Corners” trip, 9,900, miles in total about 15 years ago. What a wonderful way to “See the U.S.A. In A Chevrolet.” (Thinks Dina Shore).

Might do that again in calendar 2020, for we already have 10,000 miles lined up for next year (including the National Corvette Caravan).

Rcer86, if you do that, feel free to stop over on your way.

Daily driver.. 100 percent of my driving through winter spring summer and fall.

snow tires for the winter months.

its a fun daily driver that performs great and looks good.

no parking on the street. A nice two car garage and a 70 ft curved driveway makes three cars a pain in the butt..

i dont have the patience to save my corvette for the next owner. I keep my cars in mint condition and use them everyday. Wash and wax weekly and serviced on schedule.

                        works for me.

for those that prefer to use their corvettes as weekend toys that cool too..

i did that with my first corvette 15 or 20 years ago and found out i sold a practically new car for about half the price i paid 3 or 4 years later for a z06. Car was in mint condition but after that...i saw the light...

Very good points JB! And I like that you note that “we each get to choose.”

I will never forget when we got our new C6 Z06 via Museum Delivery (2,500 miles from home). I love the car the second I saw it (Buyer’s Tour) and thought to myself, this car is not going to see the rain. “Yeah, you want to bet” (the weather god’s said).

Driving westward, and the weather had been perfect to tha tpoint on the trip, but coming out of Kansas City, in the next 45 minutes we drew through 3 1/2” of rain. LOL, LOL, re never going to see the rain.

Would likely be my daily driver, just like the C7.

I will likely daily the thing because it will likely be too badass just to sit in a garage ...but I will probably buy an extended cab truck so I can still transport people and large items though.
