  • High Wing Without Z51

Will a C8 without the Z51 package arrived at the dealer with the high wing mounting holes already in the rear facia and prepped to accept the installation of the wing?

RockyRoad, sorry but no. The dealer will need to remove the rear fascia to install it, and that process also includes drilling the six holes into the fascia top.

Also there are conflicting thoughts as to whether that installation work would be above and additional to the high wing’s LPO (dealer installed accessory) cost. Suggest you confirm with your dealer this item also.

Best of luck however way you choose to go.
Z07 coming late this summer: Hypersonic Gray HTC, two tone blue interior, CCB’s, with every piece of visible carbon fiber available including the wheels. Lifetime, annual contributors, and 24 year members of National Corvette Museum. Home is the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

John - thank you for your response. I am guessing that all structural support below the facia is identical across C8's whereas the through holes and/or fastening accommodations exist in the framework(?)…...

Due to rear impact crash testing, that is one safe assumption. However, might there be, like the ZR1, a need for some additional vertical bracing that transfers the twisting/lifting/downforces of the rear wing to the horizontal curved carbon fiber main rear impact beam. If there are those braces, there would of course be part of the wing install parts that one purchases when one buys the high wing.

GM is also smart enough to not require the customer to patch on a Z51 the existing six holes caused when the factory always installs the standard hybrid spoiler on the Z51. Visually, the following three pictures help us learn where those six holes are (again on a Z51 hybrid to high wing install).

I ordered The high wing, the dealer is going to install for no charge beyond the cost of the option. They make money on every option you choose, they should install for no extra charge.
