It was not built on the line; took three weeks to build this first one. “Using as many tools as we will eventually use on the line.”

    More in subsequent posts.

Currently C8’s are being built on the identical/singular line as current C7’s are being built. A challenge to integrate both.

That's interesting info, and it reminds me of the C8 I saw at Les Stanford Chevrolet - the GM rep pointed out that particular car wasn't built on the BG assembly line, but was in fact hand-assembled by a group of mechanics/engineers from individual parts! That's impressive.
          My C8:
          '20 Elkhart Lake Blue 2LT Coupe, Natural Interior, GT2 Two-Tone Seats, Performance Exhaust, Front Lift, Carbon Flash Wheels, Engine Appearance Package 2000 Status December 27, 2019; 3000 Status January 2, 2020; 3400 Status March 10, 2020;TPW March 16, 2020; Built June 4th, 2020 (COVID-19); Delivery July 1, 2020

          Current Vettes:
          '68 Lemans Blue 327/350 Convertible
          '91 Turquoise Convertible with Hardtop
'14 Lime Rock Green 2LT Convertible, Black Top, Kalahari, 7-Speed, Performance Exhaust

Here’s the first one coming off the line itself, driven (started first time) away by Tadge.

As before, Kai will not speculate on full year C8 production capability.

If right now we have an assembly issue with the C8 on the same line as C7’s, we are stopping the line to insure we at least document, by almost always usually fix the C8 right then there, but we do not sacrifice C7 quality of production.

Ramp up: The current process is 4 minutes per C7 at each individual worker station. We are going to start the C8 process at around 6 minutes per worker station. Jeremy asked about how long it might take to get to get the C8’s production full 11.6 unit per hour as is the current C7 sustained production rate.

Kai responded that the best current estimate is about six to seven weeks.

Commitment to resume mass plant tours as soon as possible, but not before the six to seven week to production ramp up process if fully achieved.

No comment in spite of my specific question to Kai, not even the vaguest hint, about the timetable for the resumption of Buyer Tours.

Kai characterized the new car as a terrific driving experience, but declined to compare it to other Corvette models. Just that is a wonderful driving experience. He noted that front visibility is much better.
