  • RCC Red engine cover question

Long shot, but asking anyway as I’m excited the red engine cover is marked as a late start constraint which means it cannot be ordered with the car. So the question is, can I order it as a part after I get my car and can I install it myself or is this a dealer installed item?
SOLD!! Before - 2014 C7 2LT Grey with Kalahari Interior and NPP
Now - 2020 C8 2LT Torch Red Z51 with Adrenaline Red interior, Mag Ride, front lift, and Q8Q Wheels TPW 3/2 but delayed due to COVID-19 😥 Finally built 6/1/2020!!! 😎 at train depot 6/29/2020.. made it to dealer on 7/22/2020. Picked up 7/25/2020. From order to delivery.. ~14 months

It is going to be easy to remove the factory black engine cover and either paint it with high temp paint of your color choice and re-install it, or install the accessory one when it comes out. As Jag noted, it is super lightweight.

I counted 5 easily accessible bolts to remove it, paint it and then re attach it. I plan on removing it to fill in the embossed "Corvette" lettering with Red paint on the brush aluminum trim pieces on top. Don't want to risk damaging them by trying to pry them off with a trim tool. They could possibly bend, or get a kink in them. Easier to just remove the entire top engine cover.
3LT Coupe, Z51 Torch Red with two toned Red/black interior. 5VM visible CF ground effects, Carbon Flash wheels, engine appearance package and Carbon Fiber interior trim. Mag Ride control. Red Calipers. VQK Splash Guards. Carbon fiber mirrors and spoiler. Carbon Fiber: door handles & boomerangs, Rear Diffuser with vertical diffuser fins, Rear Hatch Vents, engine bay surround pieces, and front grill trim.

The two optional engine covers are listed as Accessories in the Accessories booklet and in the Playbook, so, yes, you order them from the dealership parts department.

My plan is to do the exact same thing! Are you planning to use a high temp paint?

Yes, although it may not be necessary, why chance it? I'm going with Torch Red for the lettering.... hope it doesn't clash with the valve covers

I'm going with the engine appearance package, so the valve covers should be somewhat less obvious with the carbon fiber trim pieces back there.
