meyerweb, since the RED cover may be on constraint for who knows how long, I'm not holding my order up waiting. I'll have it painted. How hard do you think it would be to remove the "Corvette" plates to paint the cover? Another thread previously indicated there weren't any push pins on the underside. Think they're just glued on??

I checked that, too. The other post was correct. I couldn't feel anything underneath either. Probably glued.

Would it be feasible to remove it without bending/putting a crease in them?

Couldn't do anything but guess. The silver planks seem to be fairly thick, but I have no idea what kind of adhesive they're attached with.

that looks a bit to gimmicky too me. The black looks more solid and expensive, IMO. In black, it looks less like a plastic cover.

Or strictly friction fitted with two or three male plugs (each side) fitting into top of engine cover holes.

I'm not sure the red plastic cover is thick enough to have retaining holes that don't go all the way through. I did try to see if I could pry the silver plate up with my fingernail, but couldn't really get a good purchase. Best wishes to the first person who tries to pry it off and see what happens.

After seeing this photo I changed my build order, no longer getting the Red Engine Cover. Talk about bait and switch, the pictures on the configuator are bright Red. I'll do it myself and speed the process up on the delivery.

I ordered with the standard black engine cover. As I stated from checking out the cut away engine at Carlisle, there aren't any push pins retaining the brushed alum plate with lettering and I don't want to attempt to pry off the brushed alum plate that has the embossed CORVETTE lettering to fill in with red paint. I will just remove the entire engine cover which is held on with 5 bolts...... then fill in paint the lettering and replace the entire engine cover.
