  • A 2020 ME Launch Edition

Might we get a 2020 ME special edition Corvette?

Many of us were totally surprised that the first year of the C7, when GM debuted, for the first time, two special edition Corvettes in the first year of a new Corvette generation. They were both called Premiere Editions, were the 500 unit, Laguna Blue coupes and the 550 unit, Lime Rock Green convertibles. Thanks to CorvetteBlogger for this information.

Both of these came with the 5 piece, fitted luggage edition, as Harlan just joked at Corvettes At Carlisle last week, calling them the “Luggage Editions.”

What are your thoughts as to whether we will again see a first year generation Corvette with a special edition, or were the 2014’s a one and done in that regard?

I'm a real 'died in the wool' Corvette guy owning 'em since 1968 and, quite frankly, the 2014 "Launch Editions' were a yawn! Did they even sell 'em out? I met a guy that had one of the green 'verts' and he bought it new for $2500 off sticker because it sat at the dealer for 6 months.

If they are going to do a 'launch' edition, Harlan and Company need to do something besides pick an unloved color or two and load the car up with options that limit desirability. If they do something really special, I may try to push my way up in line.... Then again, if it's really special, no one is going to move from the front of the line.

I totally agree that if there is a 2020 ME Launch Edition, it needs to be really special. If for example, as part of the special edition, if there is the ability to see down through a rear deck window and see the top of the motor, have a precision-tooled metal cover that is truly breaktaking, and perhaps mimicking that same unique metal design, have something that near-identically matches for the center console surround. Not be garrish or gaudy,n or too much of it, but forgive me, but be elegant and classy. Something of the look and the quality you would find in a $300,000 McLaren or Ferrari.

I'd actually like to see them offer fitted luggage as an option. That could come in handy.

And I agree - show off the engine, and dress it well.

Thanks for that “reminder!” We absolutely, as long distance road warriors, would love fitted luggage. Do not car what the luggage fitting in the frunk is made of (typical current nylon polymers suitcase material or similar would be fine for the out-of-sight frunk items , but we would pay extra for real nice leather for the pieces that will we believe will be visible on the shelf behind the rear seats, maybe duffel bag like — but also be custom fitted.

I think that there should be two launch editions. One launch edition should be a coupe that includes all of the performance options as standard, and that is available only in the highest trim (3LT). It should be available in Yellow, Orange, or Red. The second launch edition should be a 3LT convertible with every comfort option available. It should be available in White, Silver, or a dark blue, with any color top. The interior of both should available in white or black with bronze accents(like the ZR1 Sebring Orange package), or in Kalahari with exterior-matched stitching/piping and loads of carbon fiber. Both editions should come with:
            - A full car care kit from Adam’s Polishes
            - An exclusive “launch edition” car cover
-exclusive door sill plates that match the interior trim and feature the edition name
            - An engine build experience with an NCM tour and delivery (1 guest welcome)
            - 2 Days at the Ron Fellows driving school
            - A luggage set matched to the exterior or interior color scheme of your car
            - An invite to a private viewing of the next Corvette to be released
            - last, but not least, a lifetime subscription to Sirius XM (Because they’re a Corvette Racing sponsor and 70’s on 7 is vital to road-tripping across the U.S. of A).

Only 100 coupes and 100 convertibles should be made with their respective launch editions, making them even more rare and desirable than before.

Most people already have different size luggage- (Personally wouldn't care about that)
              1. 4LT package that includes all packages plus two tone matching leather only available with Launch Edition
              2. Matching Rims to Paint Scheme
              3. Two tone paint scheme .
              4. Carbon Fiber Hood and (Carbon Fiber Convertible Hard Top ONLY)

Sure a launch edition makes sense.

i wouldnt buy one but there are many that would.

i thought the lime rock green color with the kalahari interior was very unique and attractive on the c7.

The c8 fitted luggage would be a nice touch for the launch edition as it seems many travel in their corvettes.

i daily my corvettes but rarely travel cross country etc....sounds cool but with a severely handicapped adult child i dream about taking hi. Across country but havent yet, my better half keeps talking me out of such a journey as being to challenging to accomplish...so no luggage for me...

but i think it would sell really well especially with the frunk on the c8.

white with red leather?, or whatever color zora painted his mid engine show cars...?

Silver was often the color i remember of the mid engine corvette concept cars...
