  • 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray's top speed is 194 mph, but Z51 is slower

Interesting tidbit from Motor Authority ordering the Z51 option decreases the top speed to 184 mph because the Z51 performance pack also includes a downforce-inducing aero package that improves handling but reduces the car’s aerodynamic efficiency at high speeds. Complete article at link below.

Thanks AMC Guy! If i am going 194 MPH or even 184, I want all the downforce I can get. I remember when in Montana during the daylight hours on the interstate, when during the era of legally no speed limits, I was accelerating planning to go 150+, but as all remember a C5 started to get the start of front end uplift at around 130 MPH, and worse beyond that, so I quickly backed off.

Since the sixties there is always a trade off in gearing for maximum acceleration versus top speed..

4.11 gears did not do wonders for top end but they made acceleration from a dig a lot of fun...

ill trade 194 top speed to 184 mph to get to sixty mph in under 3 seconds...

the sleek look of tje c8 without rear spoilers is sweet and tempting but in the end...got to go with the best all around performance...

that said those who go for the standard model can certainly and proudly state they have the fastest (top speed) corvette c8 for 2020.

Thanks , I will be ordering the high spoiler as living in Florida with the feeder bands coming onshore we get 70+ MPH Winds on a regular basis. When your cruising down the highway and suddenly hit one of those it has a tendency to blow your car into the next lane quickly especially if your headed into the wind, as the combined windspeed traveling 80mph adding 70 headwind is 150mph. That's why it is imperative that I must get a C8 Stingray with the Z51 Package and High Wing Spoiler. I need all the downforce I can get.

Is the downforce greater with the high wing? I would think so, but I haven’t read a specific number other than the regular spoiler producing over 400lbs downforce

I would think the downforce with the high wing is greater than twice the approx 400 lbs of the Z51 wing. I believe it is 900 lbs.
