I heard this from another two sources, but until GM confirmed...

Let us focus on what Jljordan922 just posted, that for the vast majority will not make a tinkers **** of difference when you get your C8, for candidly, more than 2/3’s were not getting their order picked up and matched with an allocation until December or later.

For some of us, this news, if later GM confirmed, would make a difference. If for example, one was at the very top of a medium or large sized dealer’s priority list, and therefore had a really good/excellent chance of getting their order picked up the first September consensus, but you chose one of the October or later consensus colors, this could make a difference in when you were getting your C8.

However, and once again so many compounding factors, for could there still be even for a first week person who has chosen the one of the six “right” colors, yet had some other constraints we do not yet know about? For sure.

Might this get anyone to change their color choice???

Seems odd that colors they're already using on the C7 will be constrained, but who knows.

I thought the more important information is that 1LT is also constrained in the first month as well. I was surprised to hear that. I have to have 2LT because I need the memory seats(My spouse is more than a foot shorter than I am). If it wasn't for that I might consider 1LT.

I agree! I was pretty surprised that the 1LT is constrained. I wonder how this will play into people’s orders it almost seems like GM is trying to push people to pay for the extra 2LT or 3LT trim

Well, it took Elon Musk a couple of years to actually offer that "$35,000" Model 3.

I can’t help but smell a fiasco brewing. If you’ve been #1 on a list at a small dealer with say 5 allocations and a wait list 30 deep and you want Rapid Blue and everybody else wants red - you’re probably boned. This constraint thing on colors is starting to smell like the 1st year Hellcat debacle all over again.

There is no line anymore, only mayhem.

so rapid blue lines up with convertible, or is that a month after?

I know most read the article but just pasting it in here to include the trims....I only see the colors listed above.

Definitely interesting to see a Base 1LT constrained until November though, having 2LT/3LT placed through prior. I know someone that won't be too thrilled about that.

Please note that there still remain so many factors that will effect when the first cars reach the first customers. Someone could for example, get a October allocation C8, and get their ELB or LBR before everyone else in the country (exception the #1 auctioned of C8).

Lots more to be figured out. The above information is good for consideration purposes, because all else being equal, the chances of an average September allocation order being produced before an average October allocation CF8 are better than 50/50; hence if you are torn between a color for a September allocation car or a color of ELB and LBR, that is something you should consider if you are playing the laws of average.

But if you have a definite color preference, suggest strongly you stay with your # 1 color choice as your first priority.

We do not know either way. For Rapid Blue to line up with HT production would mean that just two months after the HT is revealed, that GM would be offering allocations for it. Might that occur?

Again we do not yet know enough to answer your question.

It is important to understand that if you want the front lift in weeks 1-2 of production you will also need to get the magna ride. You can’t get the front lift without magna ride until weeks 3-5 and beyond.

You will be able to get a base 2LT/3LT without the lift or magna ride in weeks 1-2 but it appears that there is a constraint on the front lift in the first two weeks of production.

I would encourage all to not make choices on options you are wanting because of a potential six week delay for silver and the new three colors, or other potential delay factors.

Why, many intervening factors. I am heading out to meet with Chazcron in a few minutes and will post up a new thread on the major intervening factor that will positively and negatively effect each person’s delivery during the first two months, — one factor I believe that many folks have not considered.

In I highly recommend you wait and get the exact color and options of car you are wanting. Heck, we have waited 66 years for a mid engine Corvette, and will even a couple of months make a difference? Please do not compromise on what you want due to impatience. Please wait and get what you want.
