Infotainment Question on Text to Speech

My 2019 Equinox does not support the text to speech feature.

I asked GM why and they indicated that Apple Car Play does a better job so they eliminated this feature. However most implementations of Apple Car Play require a cable to be plugged into the car.

As we know, the C7 supported Text to Speech.

Does anyone know if Text to Speech is naturally supported (not Apple Car Play) on the C8?

And, will the C8 support wireless Apple Car Play or will require the cable.

My bet is that the C8 will require a cable connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as the wireless versions of these two software packages have some strict requirements on hardware compatibility (i.e., few phones currently support the wireless features).

GM has confirmed (it's in a post by John somewhere here) that Car Play and Android Auto require a cable connection.

No idea if the car still supports voice recognition, but I'll be a little bit surprised if it doesn't.
