Corsair Monza GT

[Manta Ray]

So I was unaware of this concept until recently. In 1962, GM created this mid-engined experimental prototype. This car preceded the Mako Shark II. It was spearheaded by Bill Mitchell, and Larry Shinoda and Tony Lapine worked on the design. Design aspects were incorporated into both the forthcoming Opel GT and Mako Shark II, which led to the production C3 Stingray.

Thanks for the find and post Manta Ray. Does look a lot like the Opel GT. However, to your question as to any ties to the upcoming ME, the rear fender line is looking very familiar, as does the rear corner C pillar. Identical, “no,” but family resemblance, “yes.”
